No celebrity walk-ins will be found in CFFC 147, just steel, sweat, and the faint smell of carnival food reminding everyone this is where fighters come to prove something\u2014not to themselves, but to the belief economy that built Florida MMA.<\/p>\n

Where Belief Was Born<\/p>\n

\u201cA huge community of Brazilians came to Florida in the \u201990s,\u201d recalls longtime coach and ESPN<\/a> analyst Din Thomas<\/a>, \u201cpossibly because the climate felt like home. They brought jiu-jitsu and vale tudo with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those early mats\u2014rolled out in garages and warehouse gyms\u2014built a fight culture that prizes grind over glamour.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you really believe in yourself if you bum-hunt your way to the UFC? The ones who make it fight whoever, even under bad circumstances, and still find a way to shine.\u201d<\/p>\n

That challenge\u2014the quiet conviction to take hard fights\u2014is Florida\u2019s unofficial currency. Call it the belief economy.<\/p>\n

The Fairgrounds Effect for CFFC 147<\/p>\n

CFFC 147 has become the perfect testing ground for that faith.<\/p>\n

\u201cTampa is enriched with so much MMA talent that it was really a no-brainer to come here,\u201d matchmaker Arias Garcia told MMA Sucka. \u201cWe\u2019ve got Gracie Pac with Billy Quarantillo and DefWar with Daniel Mendoza right in the area\u2014plus Kill Cliff and American Top Team just a drive away.\u201d<\/p>\n

CFFC CEO Rob Haydak echoed the sentiment in the promotion\u2019s release for CFFC 147, calling Tampa \u201ca blue-collar fight town\u201d and promising that \u201cthe Fairgrounds will be rocking once again.\u201d<\/p>\n

CFFC first touched down in Tampa with CFFC 133 in July 2024, then returned three more times in 2025\u2014April, July, and now October. The consistency isn\u2019t accidental. Tampa crowds show up and believe.<\/p>\n

CFFC 147: Where Faith Meets the Grind<\/p>\n

The main event for CFFC 147 pits Florida\u2019s Kevin \u201cSweet Peas\u201d Pease against Michigan\u2019s Ethan Pauley for the vacant welterweight title\u2014a fight that embodies everything this promotion stands for.<\/p>\n

Just a year ago, Pease (6-0 MMA, 4-0 CFFC) seemed destined for gold before the Professional Fighters League called. He notched a win there, but when a return invitation didn\u2019t materialize, CFFC offered him the title shot he\u2019d been chasing since 2022. He accepted immediately, determined to complete his climb toward the UFC.<\/p>\n

His opponent for CFFC 147, Pauley (7-1 MMA, 0-0 CFFC), brings six submission wins and the kind of momentum that makes scouts take notice. The Warrior Way Martial Arts standout has fought six times in the past fourteen months and arrives in Tampa on a four-fight streak.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy training at Warrior Way is the reason I\u2019ve gotten this far,\u201d Pauley told MMA Sucka. \u201cIt\u2019s one of the original, true martial-arts gyms in Michigan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pease: Wrestling Roots, Professional Mindset<\/p>\n

Pease enters from Kill Cliff FC, surrounded by elite talent like Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s extremely helpful when you\u2019re surrounded by like-minded individuals,\u201d Pease said. \u201cEveryone there is focused on doing the right things to succeed. It\u2019s been an integral piece of my development.\u201d<\/p>\n

He describes his style as \u201ctenacious\u201d and his foundation as \u201ccut from wrestling. That\u2019s where my greatest strengths come from.\u201d<\/p>\n

The southpaw wrestles with precision, boxes with calculated angles, and carries the same patient ferocity that made Pernell Whitaker\u2014his nickname\u2019s inspiration\u2014so dangerous.<\/p>\n

From the Fighters Who\u2019ve Been There<\/p>\n

CFFC veteran Tommy Hinz says the difference between this promotion and a typical regional card is more than production value\u2014it\u2019s accountability.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom a regional perspective, what makes fighting for CFFC different is the professionalism,\u201d Hinz told MMA Sucka. \u201cAll members of the crew and team keep everything sharp, and the fighters do their part. It\u2019s killers\u2019 row.\u201d<\/p>\n

He points to concrete proof: \u201cMy coach Ryan Cafaro won the featherweight title, and my friend Eric Nolan captured gold and went straight to the UFC. This organization reminds you to keep working hard.\u201d<\/p>\n
