Sen. Panfilo Lacson on Thursday\u00a0said that the chief executive officer (CEO) of a popular integrated resort has offered to host a possible charity boxing match between Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III and acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe CEO of a popular resort casino hotel, a well-known philanthropist, is willing to open their ballroom for the \u2018charity boxing match\u2019 between Nick Torre and Baste Duterte,\u201d Lacson posted on social media, citing a credible source.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the sake of the many poor flood victims, let\u2019s do it!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The challenge sparked after Duterte, in a YouTube vlog on Sunday, called Torre a coward and dared him to a fistfight. The latter accepted the challenge on Wednesday, suggesting the bout could serve as a \u201ccharity boxing match\u201d to raise funds for those displaced by recent flooding.<\/p>\n
The PNP Chief told reporters at Camp Crame that he envisions a 12-round event with corporate sponsors contributing for each round to maximize donations. He described the proposed fight as a unique opportunity to turn a heated exchange into something that could help communities in need.<\/p>\n
Torre also said the match could humorously be billed as the \u201cfight of the century,\u201d given its unusual participants.<\/p>\n
