{"id":202955,"date":"2025-10-10T15:28:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T15:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/202955\/"},"modified":"2025-10-10T15:28:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T15:28:11","slug":"giro-ditalia-to-start-in-bulgaria-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/202955\/","title":{"rendered":"Giro d\u2019Italia to start in Bulgaria next year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">TRENTO, Italy (AP) \u2014 Next year\u2019s Giro d\u2019Italia will start in Bulgaria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The tourism minister for the Balkan country had announced the news in August but it was confirmed on Friday by Urbano Cairo, president of RCS MediaGroup \u2014 the parent company of race organizer RCS Sport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cNext year we will set off from Bulgaria,\u201d Cairo said during his appearance at the Festival dello Sport. \u201cStarting from abroad has a positive impact on local people, but also on Italians, it has the ability to give a huge boost to exports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThe Giro is an ambassador to the world \u2026 because it brings joy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Full details of the start, known as the Grande Partenza, will be announced in due course but it will almost certainly consist of three stages in Bulgaria before an early rest day as the race transfers to Italy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It will be the 16th time the Giro has started abroad and the second consecutive edition as this year the first three stages of the Italian Grand Tour took place in Albania.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">British rider Simon Yates is the defending Giro champion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">___<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">AP cycling: https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/cycling<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Associated Press<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"TRENTO, Italy (AP) \u2014 Next year\u2019s Giro d\u2019Italia will start in Bulgaria.
