FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State soccer hosts rival North Dakota on Sunday, October 12 in Summit League play. The Bison host the Fighting Hawks for Dakota Soccer Day, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. at Dacotah Field.

\nNorth Dakota State and North Dakota will meet for the 22nd time on the soccer pitch. NDSU holds a 13-6-2 lead in the series, including a 2-1 win last year in Grand Forks. The Bison are 11-3-2 against UND in the Division I era.

\nLast Time Against North Dakota
\nNorth Dakota State overcame a red card in the 20th minute to defeat North Dakota 2-1 at Bronson Field.

\nGabrielle Garrett<\/a> put the Bison in front just 54 seconds in, as she scored on the first shot of the game with a one-touch shot from a cross by Hannah Arnold<\/a> that sailed into the top right corner. North Dakota answered back, as Milan Cordone scored unassisted in the eighth minute.

\nThe Bison would be reduced to 10, as Ellie Sanchez<\/a> was sent off with a straight red card for a fall in the penalty area. North Dakota would miss the penalty. NDSU outshot the Fighting Hawks 3-2 over the remainder of the half. Payton Mulberry<\/a> made a key diving save to stop a free kick that left the game at 1-1 headed into the half.

\nLess than seven minutes into the second half, Morgan Russmann<\/a> put the Bison back in front, as she fired a shot into the top left corner from the top of the box.

\nMulberry stopped the only shot on target she faced in the second half to secure the victory for NDSU. Mulberry finished with three saves overall.

\nDakota Soccer Day
\nFans are encouraged to wear Bison gold as NDSU faces in-state rival North Dakota. The first 250 fans will receive a Bison Soccer scarf, and festivities start early with tailgating prior to the match.
