Longtime Journey<\/a> keyboardist-guitarist Jonathan Cain has quit the band, according to a new social media post by lead guitarist Neal Schon.<\/p>\n

In a post on X\/Twitter late Thursday night \/ early Friday morning, Schon wrote, \u201cJonathan Cain announced his farewell to Journey tonight. I\u2019m nowhere near done! Journey has so much more life ahead! I\u2019m sure we will have a great tour!\u201d<\/p>\n

When a fan commented about all the classic members who have parted ways with Journey over the years, Schon responded, \u201cHe wants to do his ministry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Update: A spokesperson for Jonathan Cain has clarified<\/a>, \u201cJonathan Cain remains an active member of Journey, and any reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate. He is fully dedicated to touring with the band over the next couple of years and has only expressed plans to retire at a later time.\u201d Schon, himself, issued an update on Friday afternoon, clarifying, \u201cJon is playing. He\u2019s saying at the end of 26-27 he will move on. We will have a great couple of years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cain\u2019s departure leaves Schon as the only remaining classic member of Journey. Drummer Deen Castronovo has been around since 1998, but joined the band long after their biggest hits of the \u201970s and \u201980s. Singer Arnel Pineda joined in 2007, while keyboardist Jason Derlatka and bassist Todd Jensen are recent additions to the lineup following the firings of Ross Valory and Steve Smith.<\/p>\n

Schon and Cain famously took legal action against each other over the band\u2019s finances while still bandmates in Journey, before finally resolving their dispute in 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Cain recently announced his new single \u201cNo One Else,\u201d<\/a> a tribute to slain right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. He has served as a worship leader at Florida\u2019s City of Destiny church, at one point led by his pastor wife, Paula White-Cain, who was appointed by President Trump as the leader of the newly formed White House Faith Office.<\/p>\n

As of now, Journey have no upcoming tour dates scheduled, but the band did mention back in August that a 2026-27 tour was in the works<\/a>.<\/p>\n
