The Carnduff Golf Club wrapped up its season with karaoke, drinks and laughter as members gathered for one last night together.<\/p>\n
CARNDUFF \u2014 As another golf season was coming to an end, Carnduff Golf Club manager Vienna Treble wondered how best to wrap things up. She was interested in bringing the golfers together one last time \u2014 and paring down the inventory of drinks and snacks.<\/p>\n
She has been managing the clubhouse for about three months and remembered an event that finished off a season a couple of years ago. She thought she\u2019d give it another whirl \u2014 a karaoke night, offering drinks at a reduced price.<\/p>\n
The date was set: Oct. 4, at 9 p.m. About 45 people showed up to have that last drink together, sit around and chat, and watch a replay of the Blue Jays game that had seen the Jays thump the Yankees 10-1 earlier in the day.<\/p>\n
Oh, and to listen to singers like Chance Purves croon away to the karaoke machine.<\/p>\n
Treble and two of her staff \u2014 Jakara Reavie and Victoria Boulanger \u2014 were the bartenders for the evening, which wound up around 1 a.m. They also served as designated drivers for those who enjoyed the evening a bit too much, as they say.<\/p>\n
Alex Huish was the big winner of the evening, taking home a raffle basket that included three bottles of liquor, two bags of chips, assorted candy and chocolate bars, and a couple of clubhouse favourites \u2014 puffed wheat cakes.<\/p>\n
Treble had this to say: \u201cI was very happy with how the evening went.\u201d<\/p>\n
