{"id":204411,"date":"2025-10-11T04:57:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-11T04:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/204411\/"},"modified":"2025-10-11T04:57:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T04:57:13","slug":"major-changes-coming-to-bc-ferries-horseshoe-bay-departure-bay-route-bc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/204411\/","title":{"rendered":"Major changes coming to BC Ferries Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay route &#8211; BC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\tDescrease article font size<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tIncrease article font size<\/p>\n<p>Anyone travelling on <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/bc-ferries\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BC Ferries<\/a> between <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/horseshoe-bay\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Horseshoe Bay<\/a> and Nanaimo should be aware that changes are coming.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1760146148_446_70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Starting on Oct. 15, all customers travelling by vehicle, including motorcycles, from Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) to Nanaimo (Departure Bay) will be required to book and pay before they arrive at the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>This only applies to travel from Vancouver to Nanaimo from the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal.<\/p>\n<p>According to BC Ferries, the change is necessary due to the multi-year construction project to upgrade the terminal will cut 25 per cent of the vehicle staging space.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand this is a big change, and for a terminal that already has limited space, it may feel frustrating at first,\u201d Melanie Lucia, the ferry service\u2019s vice president of customer experience, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one wants to be turned away when they\u2019ve made the trip to the terminal. By requiring advance bookings, we\u2019re giving customers more certainty and a better chance of securing their spot, especially as space becomes even tighter during construction.
