Why China unleashed fresh sanction, export curb blitz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">China and the United States have unleashed a barrage of economic sanctions and export control measures in recent days \u2013 and the tit-for-tat exchange is unlikely to end soon as the two sides seek leverage in ongoing talks over trade and technology issues, analysts said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">On Thursday, Washington imposed sanctions on a slew of Chinese entities, including an independent refinery and terminal, alleging they were involved in purchasing or shipping Iranian oil.<\/p>\n<p>Just hours earlier, Beijing <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/policy\/article\/3328294\/china-places-new-export-controls-rare-earth-production-techniques?module=top_story&amp;pgtype=section?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">had issued six separate notices<\/a> outlining a sweeping expansion of its export control regime.
