The long-awaited clash between world number one Carlos Alcaraz and rising star Joao Fonseca will finally happen at the end of the season. <\/p>\n

It was announced that the Brazilian will take on the Spaniard at the Miami Invitational, an exhibition event set to take place in December. <\/p>\n

Fans expected to see the two face off on day three of the Laver Cup, but Fonseca was not picked<\/a> by captain Andre Agassi<\/a> to feature for eventual champions Team World on the final day of the tournament.<\/p>\n

Ahead of their first career meeting in Miami, the 19-year-old predicted how the bout will go down and revealed what Alcaraz<\/a> is really like behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

As per Brazilian outlet \u2018Estadao<\/a>\u2018, Fonseca<\/a> said: \u201cHaving the opportunity to gain experience from these great players is the main thing for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven in a short conversation, we can have a great exchange. It will be a day with lots of lessons, really cool, especially with a guy like him, with whom I\u2019ve always had a good relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhenever we cross paths, we greet each other and chat a little; he\u2019s a really great guy. He encourages us a lot to believe and stay motivated to become better players.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a tennis player who represents very well a way of handling things calmly, always smiling, but at the same time dedicating himself and working hard.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe it\u2019s going to be quite lively, with a really cool vibe. Both of us really enjoy playing with the crowd, the entertainment, so I think it\u2019s going to be fun.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope there\u2019s more support for my side and that there are lots of Brazilians present, but I\u2019m sure the vibe on the court will be great either way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joao Fonseca\u2019s results against ATP top ten players in 2025<\/p>\n

Though he has never faced Alcaraz at a tour-level event, Fonseca has had some experience against top-ten players in 2025.<\/p>\n

At the Australian Open earlier this year, he triumphed over then-world number nine Andrey Rublev in straight sets.<\/p>\n

His next top-ten clash came against Jack Draper<\/a> at Roland Garros, where, despite his best efforts, he was beaten comfortably by the Briton. <\/p>\n
