FineTurf<\/a>, a Charlotte, N.C.-based lawn care company<\/a>, is partnering with the nonprofit organization Dream On 3<\/a> to host a golf tournament at Olde Sycamore Golf Club that supports kids with life-altering conditions. <\/p>\n

FineTurf\u2019s inaugural\u00a0Captain\u2019s Choice Charity Golf Tournament, hosted\u00a0on\u00a0Oct. 29 at the Charlotte golf course, is expected to bring together\u00a012\u201316 four-person teams, with a fundraising goal of\u00a0$10,000\u00a0for this first year.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur team is committed to raising a total of $80,000 through this tournament and additional fundraising efforts with local businesses and our 2,600 customers,\u201d said\u00a0Jay\u00a0Wyrick, turf and ornamental agronomist at FineTurf. <\/p>\n

This year marks FineTurf\u2019s first-ever fundraising event<\/a> of this kind \u2014 a golf tournament Wyrick said is designed to bring the community together. The team selected golf as the centerpiece of their efforts to engage industry vendors, local partners and fellow landscape companies in supporting a meaningful cause.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe chose to partner with Dream On 3 after our leadership team carefully reviewed several causes that align with our company\u2019s values,\u201d said\u00a0Wyrick. \u201cOur vision is to use lawn care as a vehicle to make a positive impact in the Charlotte region.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tournament is part of a larger, friendly fundraising competition \u2014 known as the Queen City Business of the Year campaign \u2014 that includes\u00a0four large businesses and four smaller companies\u00a0like FineTurf, all working toward the shared goal of supporting Dream On 3\u2019s mission of making sports dreams come true for kids in need. <\/p>\n

The year\u2019s efforts culminate with the\u00a0Dream Gala, a black-tie event held each January in uptown Charlotte. The gala draws a benevolent crowd of about\u00a01,000 guests who are all encouraged to add a touch of fun to the evening by pairing formal wear with tennis shoes \u2014 a signature tradition of Dream On 3.<\/p>\n

At FineTurf\u2019s tournament, participants will enjoy a full day of golf, starting with\u00a0breakfast and lunch provided on-site. Players can look forward to\u00a0door prizes, a\u00a0closest-to-the-pin contest\u00a0on one par 3 and an exciting\u00a0$10,000 hole-in-one challenge\u00a0on another. Wyrick said the tournament is looking for sponsors and donors to help support their cause and make a positive change in the region<\/a>. <\/p>\n

He also hopes to continue being a partner with Dream On 3 to host more tournaments and fundraisers in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs this is our first time hosting an event of this kind, we know there will be valuable lessons learned to help us grow and make future tournaments even better,\u201d said\u00a0Wyrick.<\/p>\n
