\n\t\u201cWonder Man<\/a>\u201d has arrived at Marvel \u2014 not the superhero, but the superhero character. The first full trailer for the Disney+ series features Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II<\/a> as Simon Williams, a struggling actor desperate to land the role of his childhood idol, Wonder Man. Marvel also announced that \u201cWonder Man,\u201d which was previous slated to debut in December, will now premiere on the streamer on January 27.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the trailer, Simon is shocked when renown filmmaker Von Kovak (Zlatko Buri\u0107 from \u201cSuperman\u201d) announces that he\u2019s going to remake the classic \u201cWonder Man\u201d film that Simon adored as a child. In his quest to land the role, Simon winds up befriending fellow actor Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), who infamously played the \u201crole\u201d of international terrorist the Mandarin in 2013\u2019s \u201cIron Man 3.\u201d Kingsley reprised Trevor in 2021\u2019s \u201cShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,\u201d directed by Destin Daniel Cretton<\/a> \u2014 who co-created and executive produced the series, and directed the first episode.<\/p>\n

\n\tCretton, currently in production directing \u201cSpider-Man: Brand New Day,\u201d co-created the show with Andrew Guest (\u201cHawkeye,\u201d \u201cBrooklyn Nine-Nine,\u201d \u201cCommunity\u201d), who also served as the showrunner.\u00a0\u201cWonder Man\u201d co-stars X Mayo, Demetrius Grosse, Arian Moayed and Olivia Thirlby.<\/p>\n

\n\tCreated by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Don Heck in 1964, in the Marvel Comics, Wonder Man is the alias of Simon Williams, the son of rich industrialist Sanford Williams. After Williams Innovations faces financial troubles due to competition with Stark Industries, Simon ends up accepting an offer from Baron Zemo that gives him ionic superpowers. After over a decade as a villain to the Avengers, Simon ultimately turns over a new leaf and becomes a longstanding member of the team. Later on in his career, Simon gains an interest in acting and moves to Los Angeles, where he works as a stuntman and books minor roles in blockbusters.<\/p>\n
