{"id":206722,"date":"2025-10-12T04:54:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-12T04:54:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/206722\/"},"modified":"2025-10-12T04:54:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T04:54:10","slug":"fagerberg-posts-hat-trick-malberg-posts-clean-sheet-as-mens-soccer-downs-mount","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/206722\/","title":{"rendered":"Fagerberg Posts Hat Trick; Malberg Posts Clean Sheet as Men\u2019s Soccer Downs Mount"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>                    &#13;<br \/>\n                        &#13;<br \/>\n &#13;<\/p>\n<p>EMMITTSBURG, MD \u2013 The Manhattan Jaspers Men&#8217;s Soccer team (3-5-2, 2-1-1 MAAC) claimed victory in its second consecutive fixture with a 3-0 clean sheet victory over the Mountaineers of Mount St. Mary&#8217;s (1-6-4, 1-3-0 MAAC) at Waldron Family Stadium on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tLooking to post back-to-back conference victories were the Green and White, who made their second-ever trip to Emmittsburg since 2023.&#13;<br \/>\n\tManhattan ensured it would keep the pedal to the metal in a crucial MAAC battle by opening the match with a pair of shots from <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/max-asplin-rowley\/11840\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11840\" target=\"_blank\">Max Asplin-Rowley<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/william-fagerberg\/11822\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11822\" target=\"_blank\">William Fagerberg<\/a> through the first nine minutes.&#13;<br \/>\n\tJust minutes later, the Jaspers found the back of the net with Fagerberg tallying his fourth goal of the season with a perfect feed from <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/giovanni-rivera\/10766\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10766\" target=\"_blank\">Giovanni Rivera<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/martin-rodriguez\/11843\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11843\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Rodriguez<\/a>.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe shots kept coming from both sides, before the Jaspers were a bit eager but disoriented by posting a pair of offsides down the stretch of the first half, before Rodriguez launched a shot wide.&#13;<br \/>\n\tJust seconds till the half concluded, senior keeper Ludvig Malberg denied Mount&#8217;s Fabian Perez to head to the locker room ahead by one goal.&#13;<br \/>\n\tIn the 47th minute on a counterattack, it was Fagerberg who succeeded on a Jasper bounce to clean up the loose change and send one to the right of the Mountaineer keeper for his fifth goal and marquee insurance tally.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Mountaineers fired off three shots with a couple of recorded saves for Malberg as the pressure began to amass for the Jaspers, but to no avail.&#13;<br \/>\n\tBack and forth action, and physical play led to the third and final goal of the match with Fagerberg finding the back of the net for his third strike and sixth of the season to effectively send the Jaspers back to Riverdale with two conference victories.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>STATS AND NOTES<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tSophomore midfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/william-fagerberg\/11822\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11822\" target=\"_blank\">William Fagerberg<\/a> posted his first career hat-trick with three goals on five shots in 85 minutes on the pitch.&#13;<br \/>\n\tSenior goalkeeper Ludvig Malberg posted his third clean sheet of the 2025 campaign, and second in as many fixtures, with a six-save performance, while facing 12 shots in a full 90 minutes on the field.&#13;<br \/>\n\tFreshman forward <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/martin-rodriguez\/11843\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11843\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Rodriguez<\/a> assisted on two of Fagerberg&#8217;s goals and added two shots with one on target in 79 minutes of game action.&#13;<br \/>\n\tSophomore defender <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/max-asplin-rowley\/11840\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11840\" target=\"_blank\">Max Asplin-Rowley<\/a> registered an assist with two shots in a full 90 minutes of match time.&#13;<br \/>\n\tFreshman midfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/giovanni-rivera\/10766\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10766\" target=\"_blank\">Giovanni Rivera<\/a> logged one assist and one shot in 90 minutes on the pitch.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Jaspers out-shot the Mountaineers 13-12, while logging four assists with the three Fagerberg strikes. But the Mount did post six shots on target, compared to Manhattan&#8217;s four. The Mountaineers also led with eight to five in corner kicks.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>QUOTES FROM THE JASPERS<\/p>\n<p>Head Coach Tom Giovatto: &#8220;We are very happy for the boys! This is a great result on the road against a tough opponent. We are pleased with the way the team is working to keep clean sheets, fight in the tough moments, and endure. That is giving our talent a platform to change the game for us.
