Algoma Public Health\u00a0is encouraging all residents to protect themselves and their loved ones this fall by getting vaccinated against flu, COVID-19 and Respiratory Syncytial Virus.<\/p>\n
Appointments for community clinics will open on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 9:00 a.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery fall we see an increase in respiratory infections across Algoma,\u201d said Dr. Tuinema, Associate Medical Officer of Health at APH.<\/p>\n

This fall, Ontario has expanded RSV protection:\u00a0<\/p>\n

Adults aged 75 and older are now eligible for the RSV vaccine.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n\t

Infants under eight months and high-risk children up to 24 months can receive Beyfortus\u00ae, a monoclonal antibody.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n\t
\n\tPregnant individuals may receive Abrysvo\u00ae, which helps protect infants at birth. \u00a0
<\/p>\n
\u201cRSV can cause serious illness in infants, older adults, and people with underlying conditions,\u201d said Candice Carter, Manager of Immunization at APH. \u201cVaccines and simple prevention habits go a long way in keeping our community healthy this season.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
All three vaccines can be given at the same appointment, making it easier to stay healthy this season.
