OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa men’s soccer team’s winning streak now stands at five as they defeated Kansas Wesleyan by a score of 3-2 on Saturday evening at AdventHealth Field.<\/p>\n

Kansas Wesleyan scored the first goal of the game, as Seth Flores converted on a chance in the 22nd minute. Antonio Natalucci<\/a> tied the game up for Ottawa with a 33rd minute long range strike. At halftime, the game was tied 1-1. Ottawa took the lead in the 68th minute after a Sam Hatswell<\/a> shot was deflected off a Kansas Wesleyan defender and in, the assist going to Alonso Basauri<\/a>. Martin Basso<\/a> scored an insurance goal in the 74th minute off an assist by Felipe Padierna<\/a>, but Kansas Wesleyan erased that lead in the same minute with a Mateo Hoyos goal. The Coyotes had many chances to tie, with multiple shots off the crossbar and shots that required heroics from David Martinez<\/a>, but they were not able to convert.<\/p>\n

Ottawa led total shots 15 to twelve, both teams took eight shots on goal each. David Martinez<\/a> made six saves for Ottawa.<\/p>\n

Ottawa (7-1-5, 6-0-2 KCAC) returns to the field on Saturday, October 18 as they travel to Lindsborg, Kansas for a game at Bethany College.
