Golden State Warriors<\/a> head coach Steve Kerr<\/a> does not have a contract for the 2026-2027 season, causing considerable uncertainty for the franchise. <\/p>\n

Kerr has been the leader of the Warriors for more than a decade, overseeing the organization’s most successful era in history. He has taken future Hall of Famers Stephen Curry and Draymond Green’s game to the next level, winning four NBA<\/a> titles with the duo (along with now-Dallas Mavericks wing Klay Thompson and now-retired forward Andre Iguodala) since Kerr’s debut 2014-15 season, coaching some all-time teams.<\/p>\n

The former Chicago Bulls guard has repeatedly claimed that he wants to finish his time in Golden State alongside Curry and Green, both of whom have two more seasons left on their deals. <\/p>\n

The Warriors are still trying to end the Curry era on a high note, hoping 2025 trade deadline addition Jimmy Butler, along with the re-signed Jonathan Kuminga and top free agent signing Al Horford, can help propel the team to another NBA Finals run.<\/p>\n

While the window for the Warriors to win with Curry is certainly closing, the organization is committed to seeing the rest of this era through.<\/p>\n

Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy said he is not concerned about Kerr’s contract, claiming that both parties are playing it by year. <\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I mean, I guess technically there is (uncertainty). This isn\u2019t really a regular situation with a head coach where he\u2019s in the last year of his deal. We know what it is with Steve,” Dunleavy said<\/a> in a new conversation with 95.7 The Game.<\/p>\n

“He\u2019s been here a long time. He\u2019s been an amazing part of this franchise, and as far as I\u2019m concerned, can stay as long as he wants. We\u2019re going to give him the grace of the season to go through it, or at least some of it, to see and feel where he\u2019s at mentally and physically.<\/p>\n

“I get how it doesn’t maybe line up, but it’s hard to see Steve moving on or to see Steph finishing his career without Steve on the sidelines. So I think it’ll all work out.”<\/p>\n

Curry, 37, is under contract through 2026-27.<\/p>\n

“But you know, we’re not gonna jump into anything, you know, we’re gonna go on Steve’s terms, and right now he just kind of wants to take it and see how the season goes, and no problem on our end,” Dunleavy added.<\/p>\n

While Curry is undoubtedly closer to the end of his time in Golden State, it is hard to envision either Kerr or Curry ending their relationship until Curry and the 35-year-old Green retire. If Kerr did leave, it would raise questions about Curry and Green’s future.<\/p>\n
