{"id":208302,"date":"2025-10-12T21:03:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-12T21:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/208302\/"},"modified":"2025-10-12T21:03:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T21:03:08","slug":"snls-hunting-wives-parody-turns-into-parks-and-rec-reunion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/208302\/","title":{"rendered":"SNL\u2019s \u2018Hunting Wives\u2019 Parody Turns Into \u2018Parks and Rec\u2019 Reunion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Amy Poehler\u2019s Parks and Recreation co-star made a surprise appearance during her episode of Saturday Night Live, appearing in a pre-recorded sketch parodying Netflix\u2019s The Hunting Wives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Aubrey Plaza, who has remained good friends with Poehler after playing April Ludgate opposite her Leslie Knope on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation for seven years, was one of Poehler\u2019s many friends who thrilled viewers with a cameo during Poehler\u2019s <a onclick=\"_sendArticleBodyInlineLinkClickAnalytics(&#039;https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/amy-poehler-pays-tribute-to-snls-50th-anniversary\/&#039;)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/amy-poehler-pays-tribute-to-snls-50th-anniversary\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/amy-poehler-pays-tribute-to-snls-50th-anniversary\/\">first hosting stint in a decade<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Unlike friends Tina Fey and Seth Meyers, who joined Poehler in the studio on Saturday night, Plaza appeared in a pre-recorded parody of The Hunting Wives.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Aubrey Plaza on SNL\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/X442DFIQPZGX7P7UGBEYINPJCY.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>NBC <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The audience in Studio 8H responded with loud applause to Plaza\u2019s appearance in the sketch, cheering loudly as she approached Poehler and Chloe Fineman to introduce herself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Parodying The Hunting Wives, \u201cthe straight-but-lesbian horny Republican murder drama,\u201d the sketch featured Poehler, Fineman, Sarah Sherman, and Ashley Padilla as the titular hunting wives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Eventually, Plaza joins in, with Fineman\u2019s character offering to teach her how to make mimosas. They begin to make mimosas sensually, with all of the women joining in, until it\u2019s revealed that Plaza\u2019s character is an openly queer woman, at which point the other characters all turn their guns on her and shout, \u201cLesbian! This is Texas!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"SNL Hunting Wives sketch\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/5SAZDVMGLVA6RIT3JUBBUZCQ4A.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>NBC <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Plaza has maintained a relatively low profile this year following the tragic death of her husband, Jeff Baena, in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">One of her <a onclick=\"_sendArticleBodyInlineLinkClickAnalytics(&#039;https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/aubrey-plaza-opens-up-about-her-grief-after-husband-jeff-baenas-death\/&#039;)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/aubrey-plaza-opens-up-about-her-grief-after-husband-jeff-baenas-death\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/aubrey-plaza-opens-up-about-her-grief-after-husband-jeff-baenas-death\/\">rare media appearances<\/a> was for an interview on Poehler\u2019s podcast, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, in August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Asked by Poehler how she was feeling, Plaza joked, \u201cI mean, right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI feel overall, I\u2019m here and I\u2019m functioning, and I feel, you know, like I feel really grateful to be moving through the world.
