Disney\u2019s got a lot of IP it doesn\u2019t always know what to do with<\/a>, and\u00a0Tron<\/a> has to be\u00a0high up on that list. After 15 years, the company delivered a sequel to the cult classic\u00a0Tron: Legacy\u00a0in the form of\u00a0Tron: Ares<\/a>, a third installment that for a long time seemed more like a pipe dream until fairly recently.<\/p>\n

To say franchise fans and general moviegoers have been placed in an awkward spot with Ares\u00a0might undersell it. On one hand, the film\u2019s marketing makes it look like a solid-looking cyber-adventure backed by a rad score courtesy of Nine Inch Nails<\/a>, who Disney\u2019s been sure to promote<\/a> as part of this almost as much as the film itself. On the other hand, the titular Ares\u00a0is played by one Jared Leto<\/a>, who folks have\u2026mixed feelings\u00a0about, let\u2019s say, either as an actor or a person more generally.<\/p>\n

And speaking of mixed feelings, that sure describes the reception to\u00a0Tron: Ares\u00a0itself, yeah? Some love it, some detest it, others think it basically gets the job done.\u00a0Tron\u2019s\u00a0never been a super popular franchise, but the reactions to this new one aren\u2019t abnormal for the series, and there\u2019s been consensus reached on some things, like its visuals and Greta Lee doing a lot with a little as Eve Kim. (And the soundtrack being great, but you already knew that.)<\/p>\n

Time will tell if\u00a0Tron: Ares\u00a0gets a warmer reception after its initial release, but until then? Let us know what you thought about the film in the comments below.<\/p>\n
