Organizers tell CP24 what makes this year so special. <\/p>\n

The annual Turkey Drive returns to the Downsview Park Merchants Market this Sunday, offering 200 families full Thanksgiving dinners \u2014 including turkey, potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and honey harvested from the former Downsview Airport.<\/p>\n

The giveaway, sponsored by YZD by Northcrest, began at 12 p.m. as officials say it aims to help \u201caddress food insecurity in the Downsview community while bringing together neighbours, volunteers, and local partners in the spirit of giving.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now in its 16th year, organizers say the need for support is stronger than ever.<\/p>\n

\u201cSixteen years have gone by really fast \u2014 it\u2019s our 16th anniversary of doing this,\u201d said Robert McBride, event organizer at Downsview Park Merchants Market. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re absolutely thrilled to be doing it because a lot of people can\u2019t put the money together to buy a turkey. We supply a 6 kg turkey with some potatoes and some cranberry\u2026 believe me the need is greater than ever out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ramzi Hinnawi, owner and CEO of Downsview Park Merchants Market, told CP24 the event is about giving back to those who need it most.<\/p>\n
