HOT SPRINGS, Ark. \u2013 The Harding women’s golf team is in the hunt for a championship belt, positioning itself in second place Sunday after the first two rounds of the Battle for the Belt tournament. Playing the par-72, 5,917-yard course at Hot Springs Country Club, the Lady Bisons are poised for a final-round charge on Monday.<\/p>\n
Harding shot a 12-over 300 in the first round and followed it with a 16-over 304 in the second for a 36-hole total of 28-over 604. That places them second in the 11-team field, behind host Henderson State, which leads at 15-over 591. The University of Texas at Dallas is in third at 34-over 610. As a team, Harding is tied for the tournament lead in scoring on par-4 holes at 28-over.<\/p>\n
A pair of Lady Bisons are tied for third place individually. Freshman Vivian Volion<\/a> (75-74) and senior Pilar Martinez<\/a> (74-75) both finished the day at 5-over 149. Volion leads the entire tournament field with 27 pars through two rounds, while Martinez, who had five birdies in her second round, is tied for the tournament’s best performance on par-4s, playing them at 2-over.<\/p>\n Junior Sydney Kincade<\/a> is also in the top 10, sitting in a tie for sixth place at 6-over 150 after rounds of 74 and 76. Other Harding scores include Cooper Meyer<\/a> in 24th at 12-over 156 (77-79), while Sidney Gainor<\/a> (81-81) and Macy Cooper<\/a> (78-84) are tied for 41st at 18-over 162.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
