[web]<br \/>\n        <a href=\"https:\/\/islandsocialtrends.ca\/category\/news-by-region\/canada-national\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\" https:\/\/islandsocialtrends.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/ISTBANNER-CANADA-NATIONAL-600x94-1.jpg &#13;&#10; \" alt=\"CANADIAN NATIONAL NEWS &amp; ANALYSIS\"\/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Sunday October 12, 2025 | NATIONAL NEWS<\/p>\n<p>by Mary P Brooke | Island Social Trends<\/p>\n<p>Mail and parcels started moving in the Canada Post system yesterday, but customers should still expect delays.<\/p>\n<p>This shift to some postal service comes as Canada Post employees \u2014 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW)  \u2014 shift from being fully on strike to instead conducting <a href=\"https:\/\/islandsocialtrends.ca\/rotating-strike-mail-and-parcels-to-start-moving-oct-11-by-canada-post-workers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rotating strikes across the country as of 6 am local time on Saturday October 11<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The reactivation of workers on the job also comes on the Thanksgiving long weekend.<\/p>\n<p>In the last year, Canadians and Canadian businesses have been subject to more than 170 days of strike activity by the CUPW including two national strikes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/islandsocialtrends.ca\/category\/sections\/holidays-sections\/thanksgiving\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/HappyThanksgiving-withMapleLeaves.png\" alt=\"happy thanksgiving\" class=\"wp-image-3726\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Welcome back:<\/p>\n<p>Canada Post said it would \u201cwelcome back employees represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) on Saturday, October 11\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Safe orderly restart:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlans are now underway to ensure a safe and orderly restart of our national operations, which were shut down without warning on September 25 following the union\u2019s sudden national strike,\u201d said Canada Post in a statement to business customers on Friday October 10.<\/p>\n<p>Canada Post says to expect \u201cuncertainty and instability in the postal service\u201d under the current conditions. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.metchosin.ca\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"299\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/DistrictofMetchosin-ThanksgivingAD-300x299-1.jpg\" alt=\"happy thanksgiving, District of Metchosin\" class=\"wp-image-164767\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Service guarantees suspended:<\/p>\n<p>During a rotating strike, Canada Post will accept, process and deliver mail and parcels in unaffected areas, but delays should still be expected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShutting down and restarting parts of our integrated national network with rotating strikes has always challenged our ability to provide reliable service to customers. As a result, all service guarantees will be suspended,\u201d said Canada Post in their message to customers.<\/p>\n<p>On-time delivery guarantees for parcel services remain suspended and date-specific Neighbourhood Mail\u2122 will not be available. An update on this is yet to come.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.monk.ca\/commercial-accounts\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/MonkOffice-CommercialAccounts-June2024-728x90px.jpg\" alt=\"monk office, commercial accounts\" class=\"wp-image-130202\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Moving from full, national strike to rotating strikes:<\/p>\n<p>CUPW is clearly intending to still keep Canada Post on its toes, as a disruption strategy<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will have to manage both resuming operations and potential disruption at select facilities. [Free ad placement courtesy of Island Social Trends]<\/p>\n<p>Processing of mail and parcels:<\/p>\n<p>Canada Post says that when employees are back on the job that processing will begin first with the mail and parcels that have been trapped in the network.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we continue to operate with an unstable network, it will take time to clear the trapped volume and manage operational resources, so customers should expect delays in processing and delivery,\u201d said Canada Post.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/islandsocialtrends.ca\/premium-digital-news-subscriptions-2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"276\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/ENEWS-graphic-500px.jpg\" alt=\"E-news, digital news service\" class=\"wp-image-164481\"  \/><\/a>Get the Island Social Trends E-News by email.<\/p>\n<p>Pickups and drop-offs:<\/p>\n<p>Some limitations will apply after Canada Post operations resume \u2013 including for pickups and drop-offs. <\/p>\n<p>New commercial volumes will be accepted into the network starting Wednesday October 15. <\/p>\n<p>Items will be delivered as quickly as possible after a disruption is over and operations resume, says Canada Post.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadapost-postescanada.ca\/cpc\/en\/personal\/send-within-canada\/compare-services\/regular.page\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/CanadaPost-shippinglabel-500px.jpg\" alt=\"parcel, export, Canada Post\" class=\"wp-image-162077\"  \/><\/a>Parcel shipping with Canada Post.<\/p>\n<p>Negotiations:<\/p>\n<p>Canada Post says it\u2019s time for CUPW to return to the bargaining table to reach new collective agreements.<\/p>\n<p>The company says it is waiting to hear back from the union on its latest offers presented to the union on October 3.
