The 28-year-old allowed only one run and four hits, while recording seven strikeouts and no walks on 85 pitches.<\/p>\n Gilbert then threw two-plus scoreless innings out of the bullpen in Seattle\u2019s marathon 3-2, 15-inning victory<\/a> over the Tigers in Friday night\u2019s deciding Game 5 of the ALDS. He worked a 1-2-3 frame in the 10th, worked around a leadoff single in the 11th and then was removed in the 12th after allowing the first two batters to reach base. He struck out two and allowed three hits in the 34-pitch relief stint.<\/p>\n It was Gilbert\u2019s first relief appearance in 149 combined regular-season and postseason outings. The last time he came out of the bullpen was back in 2017, when he was pitching for Stetson University.<\/p>\n \u201cThe outing the other night in the 15-inning game was really a good side day for him,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cThe way we\u2019re looking at it is he took a side session in the game with 40,000-plus people there. He\u2019s ready to go. He\u2019s excited. He wants the ball. So it\u2019ll be Logan tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Gilbert was Seattle\u2019s opening day starter this season after an All-Star campaign in 2024.<\/p>\n Gilbert posted a 3.44 ERA in 25 starts this year, recording 173 strikeouts and 31 walks over 131 innings. He landed on the injured list with a flexor strain in late April, but returned in mid-June and made every start the rest of the way.
