The New York Knicks<\/a> were forced to make challenging contract decisions after coming up short in the Eastern Conference Finals last season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The organization exercised center Ariel Hukporti\u2019s $1.9 million team option but declined their 40-year NBA champion forward\u2019s $3.4 million team option.<\/p>\n

With the likable veteran not being a part of the Knicks\u2019 training camp roster, there\u2019s no question that the two parties have gone their separate ways before the 2025-26 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

P.J. Tucker is no longer a positive NBA asset. Once upon a time, the Texas product made a living splashing corner threes and getting inside his opponents\u2019 heads on the defensive end.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, Tucker has declined with age, causing teams to doubt his ability to contribute on either end of the floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tucker, who won a championship alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee (Bucks) four years ago, inked a two-year deal with the Knicks in late March.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, Tucker was a non-factor in New York during the second half of the year, pouring in three points and grabbing 2.7 rebounds per game in three outings.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tucker logged only four minutes the entire postseason, indicating the Knicks’ confidence in playing the former second-round pick for an extended period was exceptionally low.<\/p>\n

At this stage of his career, Tucker should aim to convince a franchise to bring him in as an experienced veteran who would be a tremendous locker room presence.<\/p>\n
