article font size<\/p>\n<p>Toronto\u00a0has handed Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro the key to the city in recognition of his affinity for making films here.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1753129028_943_70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Toronto\u00a0Mayor Olivia Chow presented the Mexican-born filmmaker with the ceremonial honour Thursday morning, saying his history of producing films in\u00a0Toronto\u00a0has created jobs and supports a local screen industry.<\/p>\n<p>In accepting the key, del Toro said he loves\u00a0Toronto\u00a0and considers it \u201cthe best place to make movies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" day.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation took place at the waterfront Cinespace Studios, which says it\u2019s renaming four sound stages to pay tribute to the \u201cShape of Water\u201d writer-director.<\/p>\n<p>Del Toro says he\u2019s spent about half of his 30-year career making movies in\u00a0Toronto, including 2009\u2019s effects-laden action film \u201cPacific Rim\u201d and 2017\u2019s fantasy \u201cThe Shape of the Water,\u201d which netted Oscars for best director and best picture.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tTrending Now\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<a the\u00a0Toronto\u00a0video production studio Company 3.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrankenstein\u201d is bound for the\u00a0Toronto\u00a0International Film Festival in September.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have loved\u00a0Toronto\u00a0for so many years and I am very happy that it loves me back,\u201d del Toro said during the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does not only exist
