Glen Powell is on the run.<\/p>\n
His latest feature, \u201cThe Running Man,\u201d arrives in theaters in November. And before the new adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel (published under his now-defunct pseudonym Richard Bachman) hits your local multiplex, check out the just-released trailer below:<\/p>\n
The movie looks like a nonstop thrill ride, which is probably what you\u2019d expect from co-writer\/director Edgar Wright, who reteamed with his \u201cScott Pilgrim vs. the World\u201d collaborator Michael Becall for this adaptation. In \u201cThe Running Man,\u201d Powell plays Ben Richards, who signs up for a television show where the contestants are systematically stalked and killed. Josh Brolin plays the show\u2019s producer, Colman Domingo is the host and Jayme Lawson plays Ben\u2019s wife. Additionally, we see Michael Cera and William H. Macy pop up, while Katy O\u2019Brian and Martin Herlihy (from Please Don\u2019t Destroy) are fellow contestants.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Running Man\u201d was adapted once before, in 1987, with Arnold Schwarzenegger as Richards and Richard Dawson as the game show host. An underrated action movie from the period, it was notable for its vibrant, neon-lit aesthetic and gruesome gore effects. It\u2019s score, from \u201cTop Gun\u201d favorite Harold Faltermeyer, is also wonderful.<\/p>\n
Many of Wright\u2019s key collaborators returned for \u201cThe Running Man\u201d \u2013 Steven Price, who scored Wright\u2019s \u201cThe World\u2019s End,\u201d \u201cBaby Driver\u201d and \u201cLast Night in Soho\u201d and assisted on \u201cScott Pilgrim vs. the World,\u201d returns to provide the music for \u201cThe Running Man;\u201d editor Paul Machliss, who has been a constant Wright collaborator since \u201cScott Pilgrim,\u201d is the editor here; and Chung Chung-hoon, who shot \u201cLast Night in Soho,\u201d captures all the carnage.<\/p>\n
