Everybody knows it. I couldn&#8217;t tell you why I did it. I just got out of the way. That&#8217;s just how it is.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Brewers manager Pat Murphy defended his second baseman after the game, characterizing the move as human nature.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When the ball is coming towards you, your natural thing &#8212; it&#8217;s a breaking ball, your natural thing is to do that,&#8221; Murphy said. &#8220;And I know he was thinking the same thing after the ball passed. It happens. He&#8217;ll learn from that situation. But it&#8217;s hard. Even if you try to maneuver yourself, it&#8217;s hard to get hit by the pitch because it&#8217;s so reactionary.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After a brilliant effort from starter <a data-player-guid=\"459f01d4-79d3-2e60-2427-fddc4a82f275\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33748\/blake-snell\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Blake Snell<\/a>, the Dodgers led 2-0 when they handed the ball to rookie <a data-player-guid=\"771b4210-4007-3491-9298-c4d92f15beb4\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5134638\/roki-sasaki\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roki Sasaki<\/a> in the ninth after Snell had thrown 103 pitches over eight shutout innings.<\/p>\n<p>Sasaki had worked 5\u2153 scoreless innings in the postseason while adjusting to a bullpen role, but he wasn&#8217;t nearly as sharp Monday. <a data-player-guid=\"4e51a42f-b7ac-38eb-85c1-26608310bade\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/42959\/isaac-collins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Isaac Collins<\/a> drew a one-out walk and pinch hitter <a data-player-guid=\"fb61ce47-001c-a99c-eab5-77eb5c782968\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/35013\/jake-bauers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jake Bauers<\/a> smacked a ground-rule double that bounced over the center-field wall. <a data-player-guid=\"84dbf7f2-04ba-3bb6-98c0-c4bc68934584\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4917869\/jackson-chourio\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jackson Chourio<\/a> hit a sacrifice fly that scored Collins and advanced pinch runner <a data-player-guid=\"e628e3f7-ada9-3027-a8a2-d2b0850f1d26\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/42641\/brandon-lockridge\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brandon Lockridge<\/a> to third. <a data-player-guid=\"6a3df5fe-0c7d-f3fa-0c18-4850378dceba\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/31283\/christian-yelich\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christian Yelich<\/a> walked on a 3-2 pitch low and outside.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/>&#8220;I couldn&#8217;t tell you why I did it, I just got out of the way,&#8221; Brice Turang said of his backing away from what would have been a tying hit by pitch from Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen in the ninth inning Monday night. &#8220;That&#8217;s just how it is.&#8221;\u00a0Ross Harried\/EPA<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s when Dodgers manager Dave Roberts removed Sasaki and brought in <a data-player-guid=\"d07aca8d-d70c-454d-65d3-178301a834d4\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32185\/blake-treinen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Blake Treinen<\/a>, who posted a 9.64 ERA in September and gave up two runs and three hits in one inning during the National League Division Series against <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"ff1e263a-f6a6-93c3-1373-418623652ff0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/phi\/philadelphia-phillies\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yelich stole second to move the potential winning run into scoring position before <a data-player-guid=\"3f4e4c25-0616-90e8-3c28-714117615bf1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/39895\/william-contreras\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">William Contreras<\/a> walked on a 3-2 pitch low and outside. After Treinen nearly hit Turang in the leg with a pitch, Turang struck out to end the game.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You turn your leg, you wear it,&#8221; Turang said. &#8220;Just like a natural reaction to get out of the way. The last pitch, he&#8217;s a big sinker guy. He threw a four-seamer up at the top. That&#8217;s just what it is. You move on.
