{"id":213898,"date":"2025-10-15T03:42:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T03:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/213898\/"},"modified":"2025-10-15T03:42:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T03:42:09","slug":"mens-soccer-drops-match-3-0-to-no-2-bryant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/213898\/","title":{"rendered":"Men\u2019s Soccer Drops Match 3-0 to No. 2 Bryant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PROVIDENCE, R.I. &#8211; The Brown men&#8217;s soccer team (5-4-2, 1-1-1 Ivy) dropped their match 3-0 to No. 2 Bryant (12-0-1, 3-0-0 America East) on Tuesday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Obviously we&#8217;re disappointed with the result tonight, but I&#8217;m really proud of the guys for their performance,&#8221; Friends of Brown Men&#8217;s Soccer Head Coaching Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/brownbears.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/coaches\/chase-wileman\/7857\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"7857\" target=\"_blank\">Chase Wileman<\/a> said. &#8220;I think we were really good tonight despite the results, and there were a lot of positives that we can take from this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Senior goalkeeper <a href=\"https:\/\/brownbears.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/henrik-weiper\/22528\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"22528\" target=\"_blank\">Henrik Weiper<\/a> made his first start since Brown&#8217;s loss to UConn last month (Sept. 10). Weiper faced 10 shots in tonight&#8217;s contest, making four saves.<\/p>\n<p>The Bears held strong for the majority of the first half, with their defense playing a large role in blocking shots and limiting Bryant&#8217;s opportunities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs struck first, with Abdel Talabi getting Bryant on the board in the 37th minute. Paco Fernandez took a corner kick that Talabi headed into the net, to give Bryant the 1-0 advantage heading into the break.<\/p>\n<p>In the 67th minute, the Bears were issued a yellow card resulting in a penalty kick for Bryant. They were able to capitalize on the opportunity extending their lead over Brown, 2-0.<\/p>\n<p>In the bottom half of the second, Weiper made a full-extension save, tapping the ball over the backside of the net.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Brown matched Bryant in recording five shots in the second half. Four different Bears posted shots throughout the match (Dafe, Mitchell,Hille, and Wharton).<\/p>\n<p>Bryant was able to squeeze one final goal in to close the night out with a 3-0 final.<\/p>\n<p>Up Next<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Bears will head to Harvard to take on the Crimson on Saturday, Oct. 18.
