A Thanksgiving weekend bonus.

“I didn’t see it, but I had a couple of friends send me the clip,” Emilus said after Monday’s practice at Mosaic Stadium. “I think that was dope. NFL Countdown is a cool thing to be on.

“I wasn’t sure why people were tagging me on social media until I saw it. I thought, ‘That’s a good thing to be on.’ ”

What was it like to see and hear the clip?

“Well, they pronounced my last name wrong, but that’s all good,” Emilus said with a chuckle. “That’s the main thing that popped up.

“Except for that, I think it was a good thing to happen. You’re not on NFL Countdown every day, especially playing in the CFL.”

Emilus may change that, given the frequency with which he makes eye-catching grabs.

Earlier in Friday’s game, for example, he had made a contested catch while somehow landing with one foot in the field of play before being pushed out of bounds.

“The toe-tap was pretty good,” Offensive Co-ordinator Marc Mueller said when asked for his thoughts on which Emilus catch was the best.

“The fact that we’re even having the conversation is pretty impressive, because both of those were amazing plays.”

We went directly to the source for his opinion on which catch was better.

“Guys were asking me the same thing,” Emilus said, “and I was like, ‘I still don’t know.’

“I think the Moss one is definitely the biggest one, just because it was in the fourth quarter and we needed that. We were up by only five points and we needed a drive to at least get some points to put them in a difficult situation to win the game.

“So, yeah, I think it’s the Moss one, but I like both, to be honest.”

The “Moss one” was preceded by a defensive stop by the Roughriders, who foiled a third-and-two gamble on their 25-yard line.

Harris promptly went deep down the right sideline for Emilus, whose 44-yarder produced the first of three first downs during a nine-play, 71-yard possession that consumed 3:16 and ended with Brett Lauther’s fifth field goal of the day.

Following a Lauther kickoff, Toronto scrimmaged the ball on its 37-yard line with one minute left in the game. A.J. Allen essentially cemented the outcome two plays later by intercepting Argonauts quarterback Jarret Doege.

A book-end to the strong finish was a robust start to the game by Saskatchewan, which scored a touchdown on its first possession. A 50-yard pass-and-run collaboration between Harris and Emilus was followed in short order by Joe Robustelli’s 13-yard TD reception.

Emilus finished the game with season totals of 37 catches and 588 yards — compiled in only seven games. Those totals, extrapolated over a full 18 games, work out to 95 catches and 1,512 yards.

If not for two different injuries that have sidelined Emilus for a total of nine games, he would have eclipsed 1,000 yards for the third consecutive season.

But he wouldn’t trade individual statistics for the impressive number that appears in the win column.

“Being a team guy, I think the team success overshadows everything,” Emilus said. “One of my biggest goals is to be a champion.

“Not to say that I want to be hurt, but obviously I just want to win and clinching first in the West definitely helped.”

That being done, we count down the days — 25 — to the Western Final, slated for Nov. 8 at Mosaic Stadium.

A 44-yard reception by Samuel Emilus was a Moss-terpiece.
