Kevin Federline caught Britney Spears on the phone with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake<\/a> the night before they got married in 2004.<\/p>\n

The former backup dancer said he and the pop star stayed at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, Calif., on the eve of their nuptials and he walked in during the phone call.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018What\u2019s wrong?\u2019 I thought she was talking to her mom on the phone or maybe she was, like, having doubts, and she told me she was on the phone with Justin,\u201d Federline said in an interview with \u201cEntertainment Tonight\u201d<\/a> Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The pair were staying at a ritzy hotel in Santa Monica, Calif., when he walked in and heard them on the phone, he told \u201cEntertainment Tonight.\u201d Redferns<\/p>\n

\u201cImmediately \u2026 I was like, \u2018We don\u2019t have to do this,’\u201d he said he told Spears. \u201cLike, I didn\u2019t care if we got married or not.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Federline, Spears told him that she just wanted to \u201cmake sure everything was done\u201d between her and Timberlake, and that she wanted to say her final piece.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m like, damn, you know, on the night before our wedding this is what you decide to do?\u201d Federline said of his reaction at the time, agreeing with the interviewer who called the interaction a \u201chell of a red flag.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI was super young,\u201d Federline added. \u201cI was madly in love at that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The father of six said he wasn\u2019t sure if Spears was still in love with Timberlake, but he was certain she was \u201cnot over it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Federline, 47, is currently promoting his memoir, \u201cYou Thought You Knew,\u201d<\/a> which is out on Oct. 21. He and Spears have not spoken for years since they divorced in 2007, but they share two children together: Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.<\/p>\n

He told the New York Times he feared Spears\u2019 was \u201cracing toward\u201d a tragic end<\/a> and \u201cit\u2019s become impossible to pretend everything\u2019s OK.\u201d <\/p>\n

Spears\u2019 rep hit back at Federline for his upcoming memoir, \u201cYou Thought You Knew,\u201d accusing him of profiting off her now that her child support payments have ended for their two sons. Listenin<\/p>\n

\u201cWith news from Kevin\u2019s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,\u201d a rep for Spears told Page Six in a statement Tuesday. \u201cAll she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe detailed her journey in her memoir,\u201d the statement continued, referring to Spears\u2019 2023 book, \u201cThe Woman in Me.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The relationship was tumultuous.<\/p>\n

In her memoir, Spears revealed how she had an abortion after becoming pregnant by Timberlake<\/a>. She also admitted to cheating on him<\/a> with choreographer Wade Robson.<\/p>\n
