In 2008, Spears was placed under a conservatorship with her father, James Spears, and attorney Andrew M. Wallet as the conservators until Nov. 12, 2021. Federline, also known as K-Fed, argues in his memoir, You Thought You Knew, that the \u201cFree Britney\u201d movement\u2014which called for Spears\u2019 independence\u2014has done more harm than good. <\/p>\n
\u201cAll those people who put so much effort into that should now put the same energy into the \u2018Save Britney\u2019 movement. Because this is no longer about freedom. It\u2019s about survival,\u201d he writes.<\/p>\n
According to K-Fed, the \u201cFree Britney\u201d movement that aimed to end the conservatorship was well-intentioned, but vilified the professionals who could have helped Spears, preventing necessary intervention out of fear. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s become impossible to pretend everything\u2019s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we\u2019re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don\u2019t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.\u201d<\/p>\n
Federline, 47, married Spears, 43, in 2004 until their highly-contentious split in 2007. In the memoir, the dancer discussed his version of events that details Spears\u2019 use of drugs and alcohol along with Spears\u2019 explosive anger during the bitter custody battle over their two sons, Sean Preston Federline, 20, and Jayden James Federline, 19.<\/p>\n
K-Fed claims in the book that while he has kept his distance from his ex since the split, his sons have recounted their mother\u2019s alarming behavior. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep \u2014 \u2018Oh, you\u2019re awake?\u2019 \u2014 with a knife in her hand,\u201d he writes. \u201cThen she\u2019d turn around and pad off without explanation.\u201d <\/p>\n
The dancer admits that he has not discussed the memoir\u2019s contents with the singer, who has previously written in her own memoir<\/a> that she was \u201cnever as wild as the press made it out to be\u201d and \u201cnever had a drinking problem,\u201d but admitted her \u201cdrug of choice\u201d was the ADHD medication, Adderall.<\/p>\n Spears\u2019 representative did not immediately respond for comment.<\/p>\n![\"WESTWOOD,](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PPQYHZWGTNBZFLSTRNHDAR54XI.jpg\")
