Gwyneth Paltrow did not give access for Amy Odell\u2019s book<\/a> Gwyneth: The Biography, nor did she deign to read it, she says in a new profile for British <\/a>Vogue<\/a>. Her husband \u201cflicked through it\u201d and reported that \u201cIt\u2019s as if somebody put in a prompt in ChatGPT and said: mine every Daily Mail article and write a biography about Gwyneth Paltrow.\u201d In short, they are not fans.<\/p>\n

In long: \u201cShe totally missed everything, the truth of who I am, what my impact is. [My husband] was like, \u2018It\u2019s just bad. It\u2019s really badly written.\u2019 I was like, \u2018OK,’\u201d she complained. \u201cThe stuff that I saw in People magazine, and [other outlets that picked it up], it was all rubbish, the things that I supposedly said.\u201d She added: \u201cI think it\u2019s very sexist. I was like, \u2018OK, hang on a sec. Why do the men get Walter Isaacson and I get this hack?\u2019 You know?\u201d<\/p>\n

The one specific claim in the book Paltrow counters is the idea that her lifestyle company Goop<\/a> has a \u201ctoxic culture\u201d: \u201cGranted we\u2019ve had a couple of toxic people and, because of my fear of confrontation, maybe I didn\u2019t deal with it quickly enough. That does cascade down and I totally take responsibility for that. But we are such a good culture. We are,\u201d she tells Vogue. She does acknowledge that of course, as the head of Goop, of course she\u2019d say that Goop isn\u2019t toxic. Plus, \u201cWe are all human beings who go to work, sometimes with unresolved stuff and that comes out. People can have bad work experiences anywhere,\u201d she allows. \u201cBut I can guarantee if I dropped you into the Goop office in Santa Monica, you\u2019d be like: \u2018What the fuck are these people talking about?\u2019 You would see really engaged, really brilliant, highly collaborative teams who are excited. So I don\u2019t like that kind of stuff\u2014it impacts the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Any negative sentiment directed towards her or her company can have an impact, \u201cbecause energy is real,\u201d as she explains. \u201cThe superstring physicists proved this. A molecule flying towards someone can change direction with intention, with thought behind it. To me it feels real.\u201d Though she\u2019s \u201cpretty good at being able to weather the storms,\u201d Paltrow admits, \u201csometimes there\u2019s an accumulation of energy that makes me feel pretty fragile. Ultimately I\u2019m just a mammal like anyone, but I\u2019m expected to have this superhuman capacity to body all of this energy and thought.\u201d<\/p>\n
