{"id":217135,"date":"2025-10-16T11:12:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T11:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/217135\/"},"modified":"2025-10-16T11:12:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T11:12:10","slug":"poppy-unveils-reimagined-version-of-whams-last-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/217135\/","title":{"rendered":"Poppy Unveils Reimagined Version of Wham&#8217;s &#8220;Last Christmas&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/poppy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Poppy<\/a> has released a cover of the <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/wham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Wham<\/a> classic\u00a0\u201cLast Christmas\u201d via Spotify\u2019s Singles Holiday series.<\/p>\n<p>Teamed up with producer\/ex-Bring Me the Horizon member Jordan Fish, Poppy reimagined the iconic Christmas tune in her own style, incorporating electronic, industrial, and pop-punk elements into her version of the song.<\/p>\n<p>The duo bolster the chord progression with huge guitars and electronic flourishes, and take creative liberties with the original song\u2019s verses, although the chorus is pretty true to Wham\u2019s version.<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>Fish teased the track in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DPz9pMQCsEf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Instagram<\/a> post, writing, \u201cChristmas came early.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cover arrives just days after Poppy wrapped up her <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/06\/poppy-fall-2025-north-american-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Fall 2025 headlining run<\/a> this past weekend, the culmination of another strong year for the genre-bending singer. The past several months saw her collaborating with like-minded artists, including tracks with <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/09\/amy-lee-poppy-courtney-laplante-new-song-end-of-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Amy Lee and Courtney LaPlante<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/04\/babymetal-poppy-new-song-from-me-to-u\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">BABYMETAL<\/a>.
