\n\tLongwood dropped its last match against UNC Asheville on Sunday afternoon in Farmville, 3-0.
\n\tLouis Beckett scored a pair of goals. And Benin Yao tallied a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs.
\n\tBeckett scored in the eighth and 61st minutes while Yao scored with 16 minutes on the clock.
\n\tLucca Barros made three saves in the Asheville goal for the clean sheet and Youssou Ouendeno<\/a> stopped four shots for the Lancers.
\n\tSyrus Connolly, Ezrah Serralde<\/a> and Jesus Macaya<\/a> posted shots on goal for Longwood.
<\/p>\n
\n\tWinthrop leads the all-time series with the Lancers, 14-3-1, since it began in the 1978 season.
\n\tThe last five matches have been split, 2-2-1, with Longwood’s victories in that span coming in the same calendar year.
\n\tLongwood won, 2-1, in Rock Hill, S.C., on March 29, 2021 and then again, 3-2, on Oct. 6 of that year in Farmville.
\n\tThe Lancers are 2-4-1 at home all-time against the Eagles.

\n\tWinthrop enters the match at 1-9-2 overall and 1-4-0 in the Big South under first-year head coach Dan Ridenhour.
\n\tThe Eagles are coming off of a 1-1 draw against College of Charleston at home on Tuesday.
\n\tJayco Castro scored a 69th-minute equalizer to force the deadlock.
\n\tWinthrop’s lone victory in the league was a 3-1 win over Radford on Oct. 4 at home.
\n\tThe Eagles have scored six goals and conceded 25 in 12 matches this season.
\n\tCastro leads the team with a pair of goals, four points and 26 shots in 11 matches played.
\n\tJack Kilstrom has appeared in all 12 matches in goal and has a and has a 2.14 goals-against average and .671 save percentage with one clean sheet. He’s made 49 saves on the year.
<\/p>\n
\n\tLongwood has played the 17th most difficult schedule in Division I men’s soccer as of Oct. 16 and is 143rd in the RPI.
\n\tThe Lancers are 1-4-0 against teams inside the top 100 of the RPI, earning a 1-0 victory at home over Elon on Sept. 23, which was receiving votes in the national polls at the time. Elon is currently 80th in the RPI.
\n\tLongwood also drew, 2-2, at Campbell on Sept. 16. The Fighting Camels are now 122nd in the RPI, but were inside the top 100 at the time of that match.

\n\tThe Lancers have played two teams ranked in the United Soccer Coaches top 25 poll this season.
\n\tIn addition to West Virginia, which was No. 15 at the time of the match, Longwood also played then-No. 9 High Point.\u00a0

\n\tLongwood was selected to finish third in the Big South preseason coaches poll, announced on Aug. 13
\n\tThe team received 41 points in the voting to finish behind just High Point and Gardner-Webb, which earned 62 and 55 points, respectively. Those two schools split the first-place votes with 2024 regular-season champion Panthers garnering six and the Runnin’ Bulldogs picking up the remaining two nods for the top spot.
\n\tThe third-place tag for Longwood represents a tie for the highest-ever finish in the Big South preseason poll, matching the 2022 squad.

\n\tLongwood travels to Navy on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., on ESPN+.
\n\tThe Midshipmen lead the all-time series, 7-6-0, but Longwood has won the last two matches, claiming victories in 2023 and 2024.
