Britney Spears<\/a> is speaking out against claims made by her ex-husband, Kevin Federline<\/a>, after he publicly expressed concerns about her mental health.<\/p>\n

Over the past week, Federline has been discussing his upcoming memoir<\/a>,\u00a0You Thought You Knew, and his concerns for Spears. Federline and Spears were married from 2004 to 2007 and share two sons, Sean Preston Federline, 20, and Jayden James Federline, 19.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it\u2019s racing toward something irreversible,\u201d Federline, 47, wrote in an excerpt of his book, viewed by The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s become impossible to pretend everything\u2019s OK,\u201d Federline continued. \u201cFrom where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we\u2019re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don\u2019t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahead of the release of Federline\u2019s memoir on Oct. 21 and in response to the multitude of recent news reports on its contents, Spears took to social media to call her ex-husband out for \u201cgaslighting\u201d and \u201churting\u201d the 43-year-old pop star with a book she described as full of \u201cwhite lies.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe constant gaslighting from [my] ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys,\u201d the social media post reads. \u201cRelationships with teenage boys is [sic] complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by [their] own father for me. They need to take responsibility for themselves,\u201d the post continues. \u201cWith one son only seeing me for 45 min[utes] in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spears\u2019 post said that from now on she will \u201clet them know when I am available.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spears also said she had been living a \u201csacred and private life\u201d since she was released from her conservatorship, which officially ended in 2021<\/a> after nearly 14 years of close supervision and monitoring.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, a representative for Spears released a statement<\/a> after Federline alleged that the\u00a0Toxic\u00a0singer watched her sons sleep \u201cwith a knife in her hand.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWith news from Kevin\u2019s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,\u201d a representative for Spears said in response to excerpts released from the upcoming memoir.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir,\u201d her rep added of her 2023 book, The Woman in Me.<\/p>\n

Federline told The New York Times<\/a> that he hasn\u2019t spoken to Spears \u201cin years.\u201d But in his memoir he reportedly writes about becoming concerned with what he describes as Spears\u2019 \u201cerratic behavior, which he learned about mostly secondhand from their two sons.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep \u2014 \u2018Oh, you\u2019re awake?\u2019 \u2014 with a knife in her hand,\u201d he alleges in the excerpt provided to the outlet. \u201cThen she\u2019d turn around and pad off without explanation.<\/p>\n

He also suggested that all the fans who put their energy and efforts into the \u201cFree Britney\u201d movement<\/a> should \u201cnow put the same energy into the \u2018Save Britney\u2019 movement.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause this is no longer about freedom. It\u2019s about survival,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Federline told the Times that he had not discussed the contents of the memoir with Spears.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never, ever, once, been against Britney,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve only tried to help my sons have an incredible relationship with their mother. And it\u2019s hard because when I really reflect on everything that\u2019s happened \u2014 my kids do not know the woman that I married. And I\u2019ve spent two decades trying to bridge that gap.\u201d<\/p>\n
