Calgary has a chance to lock up a playoff spot this weekend and the Argos will try to play spoiler despite being out of playoff contention. Here, I break down this matchup in the Canadian Football League and give you my Argonauts vs Stampeders prediction for Saturday’s game.

Our Argonauts vs Stampeders PickPick: Calgary Stampeders –9.5Confidence: ★★★★☆Game SnapshotMatchup: Toronto Argonauts vs Calgary StampedersDate & Time: Saturday, October 18, 2025, 7:00 p.m. ETVenue: McMahon Stadium, Calgary, AlbertaBroadcast: TSN / CFL+ / CBSSN (U.S.)Argonauts vs Stampeders OddsLine / SpreadMoneylineTotal (O/U)Calgary –9.5Toronto +360 | Calgary –47052.5Key StorylinesCalgary’s playoff push: A win here would clinch a postseason berth for the Stamps and secure their positioning in the West division bracket. They can ill afford to take this game lightly despite how poorly their opponents have played this season.Toronto’s last ride: The Argos are playing for pride only. With no postseason prospects, they will aim to avoid finishing at the bottom of the East and perhaps spoil Calgary’s plans to play playoff football.Quarterback situation in Toronto: Nick Arbuckle is out due to injury and Jarret Doege is expected to start. That change limits the upside for the Argos’ passing attack. We saw that in Toronto’s 27-19 loss to Saskatchewan in Week 19.Calgary’s balanced offense: The Stamps have a strong ground game led by Dedrick Mills. That, combined with their passing attack led by Vernon Adams Jr., should put pressure on the defense of the Argos.Quarterback Play

Toronto is without Nick Arbuckle under centre. He had 4,370 passing yards and 26 touchdowns on the year. Toronto will turn to Jarret Doege to play quarterback in his place. In his most recent start, Doege completed 20 of 31 pass attempts for 221 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.

Calgary’s Vernon Adams Jr. has thrown for 3,749 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions this season. He ranks fifth in the CFL in passing yards going into this week. He has mobility and enough arm talent to make him a dangerous dual threat. With a stable offensive line and a running back like Dedrick Mills, Adams can carve up defenses when he avoids putting the ball in harm’s way.

Betting Trends & H2HToronto is 8-9 against the spread on the year.Calgary is 8-8 against the spread going into Week 20.The Argos are 8-8-1 on over/unders for the season.Calgary is 8-8 on their totals this season.Calgary won the lone meeting between these teams by a score of 29-19 in Toronto earlier in the year.Argonauts vs Stampeders Model Projection

Score Projection: Toronto 18 – Calgary 31

Win Probability: Toronto 22%, Calgary 78%

Final Thoughts

I am laying the points with the Stampeders in this Week 20 matchup. The Stamps are still playing for a spot in the postseason and they should take full advantage of the quarterback situation for the Argos. Look for Vernon Adams to play well and for the Stamps to win by double-digits at home.

Jay Sanin

Jay Sanin is a sports bettor, writer and broadcaster from New York.
