Anthony Santander\u2019s season with the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> is over.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays have removed Anthony Santander from the team\u2019s roster for the American League Championship Series<\/a> versus the Seattle Mariners, due to an injury.<\/p>\n

Just before Game 4 in Seattle, Major League Baseball announced that it had approved the Jays\u2019 request to replace Santander on the roster with another outfielder, Joey Loperfido, for the remainder of the ALCS.<\/p>\n

The move required the confirmation of the injury by MLB medical director Dr. Gary Green and makes the switch-hitting outfielder ineligible to return for the World Series, should the Jays get there.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Thursday, Jays manager John Schneider said that Santander woke up sore on Thursday.<\/p>\n

He had been scratched from Game 2 with lower back tightness and removed from Game 3 after scoring from the second in the fifth inning.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a disappointing season for Santander, who signed a $92.5-million deal with the Jays in the offseason, but has been injured for a large chunk of this season. The franchise was looking for a slugger, after he hit a career-best 44 homers with the Baltimore Orioles in 2024.<\/p>\n
