{"id":220347,"date":"2025-10-17T18:10:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T18:10:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/220347\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T18:10:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T18:10:07","slug":"update-richards-landing-er-closure-has-been-extended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/220347\/","title":{"rendered":"UPDATE: Richards Landing ER closure has been extended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A nurse practitioner will be available at the Richards Landing-Matthews Site from Saturday morning to Monday morning<\/p>\n<p>        Update:<\/p>\n<p>The North Shore Health Network is extending an emergency department closure in Richards Landing.<\/p>\n<p>The ER at the Matthews Site shut down today at 8 a.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was originally expected to reopen 24 hours later, however NSHN now says it will stay closed until 8 a.m. on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should still call 9-1-1.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ambulances will be re-routed to one of the closest emergency departments to the Richards Landing &#8211; Matthews Site which are Sault Area Hospital, and the Thessalon Site which is due to reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, as part of a new initiative, a nurse practitioner will be available at the Richards Landing-Matthews Site to provide timely care for urgent health concerns from 9 a.m. Saturday, October 18 to 8 a.m. Monday, October 20.<\/p>\n<p>Original release below:<\/p>\n<p>The North Shore Health Network (NSHN) is informing the community of an upcoming Emergency Department closure due to physician shortages:<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tTHESSALON SITE:&#13;<br \/>\n\t&#13;<br \/>\n\t\tFrom 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 reopening at 8\u00a0a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.&#13;<br \/>\n\t&#13;<br \/>\n\t&#13;<br \/>\n\tRICHARDS LANDING \u2013 MATTHEWS SITE:&#13;<br \/>\n\t&#13;<br \/>\n\t\tFrom 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 reopening at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.&#13;<br \/>\n\t&#13;<br \/>\n\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The North Shore Health Network continues to investigate all possible options to provide safe access to care and to avoid closure. Efforts to find coverage are ongoing and should a physician be secured NSHN will reverse the closure and update the community as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1.
