In the build-up to the release of\u00a0Evil Dead Rise\u00a0(read our review right\u00a0HERE<\/a>) in 2023,\u00a0Evil Dead\u00a0franchise rights holders Sam Raimi,\u00a0Bruce Campbell<\/a>, and Rob Tapert let it be known that they were already looking forward to producing more entries in the series, with Campbell revealing they were hoping to make a new sequel \/ spin-off every two or three years. Last year, they proved their commitment to this idea by hiring S\u00e9bastien Vani\u010dek, who made his feature directorial debut on the French horror film\u00a0Vermin<\/a>, a.k.a.\u00a0Infested<\/a>,\u00a0to write and direct a new installment in the franchise, which is going by the title\u00a0Evil Dead Burn.\u00a0Vani\u010dek\u2019s movie started filming in July, and now the director has taken to social media to announce that production has wrapped!<\/p>\n

Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema will be giving the film a theatrical release on\u00a0July 24, 2026.<\/p>\n

New Line Cinema and Sony Pictures are co-financing the film, which Vani\u010dek is directing from a screenplay he wrote with Florent Bernard. Sony will distribute internationally, with Canal Plus distributing in the UK and Metropolitan distributing in France. Details on the story Vani\u010dek will be telling in\u00a0Evil Dead Burn\u00a0have not been revealed, but he has said that he has complete creative control on his\u00a0Evil Dead\u00a0movie, and intends to give it a French twist. Dune: Part Two\u2018s\u00a0Souheila Yacoub, a Swiss former rhythmic gymnast who won the Miss Suisse Romande beauty pageant before getting her acting career started,\u00a0landed the lead role and has been joined in the cast by Hunter Doohan\u00a0(Your Honor),\u00a0Luciane Buchanan\u00a0(The Night Agent), and\u00a0Tandi Wright\u00a0(Pearl).<\/p>\n

Buchanan told Collider, \u201cI\u2019ve watched all the other\u00a0Evil Deads, I made my way through them, and when I read the script, it\u2019s unlike any of the\u00a0Evil Deads. I guess the director has his own spin on it, and I was very excited. I really enjoyed the script. The actors are incredible, but I\u2019ll leave it there.\u201c<\/p>\n

Sam Raimi made his feature directorial debut with the original\u00a0The Evil Dead, which introduced Campbell as iconic hero Ash Williams. Ash returned for\u00a0Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness, and the\u00a0Ash vs. Evil Dead\u00a0TV series, with Raimi directing the films and the first episode of the show. After seeing a short film directed by Fede Alvarez, the\u00a0Evil Dead\u00a0rights holders gave him the chance to make his feature directorial debut with the Ash-less 2013\u00a0Evil Dead. Then Lee Cronin was hired to make the Ash-less\u00a0Evil Dead Rise\u00a0based on the strength of his own feature debut, the 2019 film\u00a0The Hole in the Ground.\u00a0So S\u00e9bastien Vani\u010dek being hired to make the next\u00a0Evil Dead\u00a0movie right after entering the feature world with\u00a0Vermin\u00a0\/\u00a0Infested\u00a0is very on brand for this franchise.<\/p>\n

Vani\u010dek\u2019s\u00a0Evil Dead Burn\u00a0isn\u2019t the only\u00a0Evil Dead\u00a0movie in development. Two months after he was hired to make his movie, the rights holders also hired\u00a0Francis Galluppi<\/a>, who just made his feature directorial debut with the crime thriller\u00a0The Last Stop in Yuma County<\/a>, to write and direct his own\u00a0Evil Dead\u00a0flick. We haven\u2019t heard any more about that one. An animated series follow-up to\u00a0Ash vs. Evil Dead\u00a0is also in the works.<\/p>\n
