STANFORD, Calif. \u2013\u00a0The Washington women’s golf team wrapped up the first round of play in the Stanford Intercollegiate today, tying for 17th place, scoring 15 over par on the 71-par course.<\/p>\n

Athena Ni<\/a> led the Huskies in round one with a steady score of 72 to finish tied for 32nd place overall, while Mads Smith<\/a> shot a 75 to stand in 66th. Wendy Tang<\/a> and Carmen Lim<\/a> each shot 76s to stand tied at 78th place. At the back of the pack was Amber Li<\/a>, who placed 91st overall at 8-over.<\/p>\n

“We did a lot of good things on the course today,” said head coach Anna Temple<\/a>. “We’re making better decisions and responding more productively when we get the ball out of position. That’s a good place to build off of the next two rounds. We’re excited to get back at it tomorrow.”<\/p>\n
