The album will feature renditions of \u201cLookout Joe\u201d and On the Beach\u2019s \u201cWalk On\u201d cut during the original 1973 sessions at S.I.R. Studios in Los Angeles<\/p>\n
\n\tNeil Young<\/a> will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his classic 1975 album<\/a> Tonight\u2019s the Night<\/a> with a reissue package featuring several previously unreleased recordings from the original album sessions.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tYoung and his backing band \u2014 which included, at the time, guitarist Nils Lofgren, pedal steel player Ben Keith, bassist Billy Talbot, drummer Ralph Molina, and others \u2014 recorded most of\u00a0Tonight\u2019s the Night\u00a0at S.I.R. Studios in Los Angeles in 1973. A couple of songs, though, were cut at Young\u2019s own Broken Arrow Ranch.<\/p>\n \n\tThe bonus tracks all come from those S.I.R. sessions, including a previously unreleased version of \u201cLookout Joe\u201d that\u2019ll be slotted into the album track list on the reissue in place of the Broken Arrow version from the original album. One of the other unreleased bonus tracks from the S.I.R. sessions is a rendition of \u201cWalk On,\u201d which was cut again at Broken Arrow for Young\u2019s 1974 album, On the Beach<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe last unreleased track is an alternate take of \u201cTonight\u2019s the Night.\u201d Among the other rarities are versions of \u201cEverybody\u2019s Alone,\u201d \u201cRaised on Robbery\u201d with Joni Mitchell, and \u201cSpeakin\u2019 Out Jam,\u201d all of which were previously included on Neil Young Archives Vol. II<\/a>. The reissue will also boast \u201cWonderin\u2019,\u201d<\/a> which has only been available to stream on Young\u2019s website.\u00a0<\/p>\n \t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n \n\tTonight\u2019s the Night was the last album in Young\u2019s so-called \u201cditch trilogy\u201d \u2014 along with On the Beach and 1973\u2019s Time Fades Away<\/a> \u2014 which followed the massive success of 1972\u2019s Harvest<\/a>. While those three albums failed to garner the same critical or commercial success as Harvest, they\u2019ve since become revered efforts in Young\u2019s discography. Tonight\u2019s the Night is often heralded as one of Young\u2019s best as it found him grappling with the overdose deaths of Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten and longtime roadie Bruce Berry.<\/p>\n
