VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. \u2014 The Richmond Spiders women’s golf team combined for a team score of 9-over par in the final round of the final tournament of their fall season, shooting a 289 at the Evie Odom Invitational Saturday. Richmond’s score was its best round of the 54-hole event and its lowest since the season-opening Tribe Invitational, which UR won by a program-record 31 strokes.<\/p>\n
UR finished the event at 50-over par (890), 12th in the field. The Spiders were led by junior Maya Beasley<\/a>, who shot a 1-under 69 to finish the event at 7-over par (217), tied for 22nd on the individual leaderboard. It was Beasley’s 14th career top-25 finish and first since she won the Tribe Invitational last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I feel pretty good. It was nice to start off the way that it did but I definitely want to improve in some aspects heading into the offseason,” said Beasley. “It was great to end the fall here at the Evie Odom and I can’t believe the fall season is already over!”<\/p>\n Beasley played the par 4s at Princess Anne Country Club in a combined 1-under par during the event, tied for fourth best in the field. She finished two shots in front of freshman Addie Doroh<\/a>, who tied for 31st at 9-over par (219).\u00a0<\/p>\n Senior Hannah Lydic<\/a> (12-over 222) tied for 44th after shooting a 1-over 71 Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n Senior Olivia Wilkie<\/a> and sophomore Katie Magner<\/a> were part of a group of four golfers who tied for 65th at 24-over par (234).\u00a0<\/p>\n Richmond will return to competition on January 26-27 at the Sea Best Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.\u00a0<\/p>\n
