Oscar Piastri has admitted that he \u201cdidn\u2019t really feel terribly comfortable\u201d during Qualifying for the United States Grand Prix, with the Australian aiming to \u201cmake up some ground\u201d on Sunday after ending the session in P6.<\/p>\n
The weekend so far at the Circuit of The Americas has not been entirely smooth for Piastri<\/a>, having been unable to match the pace of McLaren<\/a> team mate Lando Norris<\/a> in Friday\u2019s sessions.<\/p>\n While both drivers suffered a nightmare start to the Sprint<\/a> on Saturday \u2013 with both eliminated on Lap 1 during a first corner collision \u2013 Piastri was the one to face a tougher outing in Qualifying, the championship leader having to settle for sixth place on the grid in contrast to Norris up in P2.<\/p>\n \u201c[It was] just a tricky session,\u201d Piastri conceded after jumping out of the car. \u201cI didn\u2019t really feel terribly comfortable out there, and I think the lap time shows. A tricky session but it\u2019s still a long race tomorrow, a lot can happen so we\u2019ll try and make up some ground.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked what had caused his difficulties in the session \u2013 and whether it had been down to lacking confidence in the car \u2013 the 24-year-old went on to explain: \u201cJust a little bit unpredictable.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it was very tight for the positions ahead of me, so I think compared to yesterday it didn\u2019t feel quite as comfortable or as quick.
