Neil Young<\/a> has announced a 50th anniversary re-release for his 1975 album \u2018Tonight\u2019s The Night\u2019.<\/p>\n

The limited-edition reissue will contain the full album alongside six bonus tracks, made up of unreleased alternate versions of songs from the era and a collaboration with Joni Mitchell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The album will include a version of \u2018Lookout Joe\u2019 that was recorded at S.I.R. Studio in Los Angeles in 1973 in place of the original and a new take on the record\u2019s title track. Also included are unreleased versions of \u2018Walk On\u2019, \u2018Everybody\u2019s Alone\u2019 and \u2018Speakin\u2019 Out\u2019, an early version of \u2018Wonderin\u2019\u2019 and a collaborative version of Mitchell\u2019s \u2018Raised On Robbery\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Tonight\u2019s The Night\u2019 was Young\u2019s sixth studio album, released in June 1975. It had been recorded two years earlier but label Reprise delayed its release, reportedly due to the bleakness of the subject matter and its rough sound.<\/p>\n

Young wrote the songs while grieving the deaths of Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten and his friend Bruce Berry, and it formed the third part of his \u2018Ditch Trilogy\u2019 (after \u2018Time Fades Away\u2019 and \u2018On The Beach\u2019), recorded during Young\u2019s deliberate retreat from fame after the success of 1972\u2019s \u2018Harvest\u2019.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Young recently announced he was removing his music from Amazon Music<\/a>. \u201cThe time is here. FORGET AMAZON,\u201d he wrote. \u201cSoon my music will not be there. It is easy to buy local. Support your community. Go to the local store. Don\u2019t go back to the big corporations who have sold out America.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also\u00a0deactivated his Facebook and Instagram accounts<\/a>\u00a0over Meta\u2019s reported \u201cunconscionable use of chatbots with children\u201d earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Earlier this summer,\u00a0Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts headlined Glastonbury 2025<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0in\u00a0a four-star review<\/a>,\u00a0NME\u00a0described the performance as \u201ca headline set that proves that sometimes, there\u2019s still power to be found in an old-school approach\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is, in short, the definition of no frills,\u201d it read. \u201cIt\u2019s testament to the power of Young\u2019s songwriting, then, just how brilliantly it all works, how little the momentum drops.\u201d<\/p>\n
