Stefanos Tsitsipas has struggled with form in 2025, as he continues to fall down the rankings.<\/p>\n

The Greek star was once ranked number three in the world, but is now just the 29th best player on the ATP Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tsitsipas is a two-time major finalist, finishing as runner-up to Novak Djokovic<\/a> at the 2021 French Open and 2023 Australian Open.<\/p>\n

Those successes seem like a distant memory now, however, as Tsitsipas<\/a> has won just one Grand Slam match in 2025.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to the remainder of his 2025 campaign, the 26-year-old has suggested there\u2019s another tournament he wants to win more than a Grand Slam.<\/p>\n

Stefanos Tsitsipas would rather win the Davis Cup for Greece than a Grand Slam<\/p>\n

During an interview with Greek media outlet SDNA<\/a>, Tsitsipas revealed his plans for the rest of the season and named the tournament he desperately wants to win.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mood is to play in the Davis Cup<\/a>. My love for the Davis Cup is immense,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI often tell Petros [Tsitsipas] and my father. A Davis Cup title would probably be more valuable than a Grand Slam.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing able to see our national team win the Davis Cup can fill me up more as a tennis player than a Grand Slam.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Greek Davis Cup team are currently preparing for a tie with Brazil in September, with the winner set to advance to the first round of Davis Cup qualifying in 2026.<\/p>\n

Tsitsipas didn\u2019t play for Greece in their most recent win over Egypt, but is by far the nation\u2019s best player, and will be a valuable addition when they take on Brazil.<\/p>\n

Returning to Athens, Tsitsipas will hope to guide Greece to a big win over Brazil, but how well has he performed at the Davis Cup over the years?<\/p>\n

Since making his debut in 2019, Tsitsipas has played 16 Davis Cup matches, winning 13 (81%).<\/p>\n

His performances haven\u2019t been enough to drag Greece to the latter stages of the Davis Cup, however, as the nation hasn\u2019t appeared in the \u2018Davis Cup Finals\u2019 since the format changed in 2019.<\/p>\n

Greece are currently ranked 38th in the world, and trail two-time defending champions Italy by some distance.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re not quite contenders for the Davis Cup yet, but could well be in five to ten years, especially if Greece continues to produce world-class talents.<\/p>\n

13-year-old Rafael Pagonis reached the U-14 boys\u2019 final at Wimbledon<\/a> recently and is certainly one to watch for the future.<\/p>\n

Sharing his thoughts on Pagonis, Tsitsipas said he hoped they would play together at the Davis Cup in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is very impressive, and I can\u2019t wait to see him at a high ATP level. I hope I can catch him to play Davis Cup together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has great potential. He seems dedicated and focused on what he does.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very happy that we have such an athlete from our country; he will not only be a good athlete, but I believe he will be an excellent athlete in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
