DETROIT — Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a> five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver and franchise-leading scorer Mike Evans<\/a> suffered a concussion and a shoulder injury during the second quarter of Monday night’s game at the Detroit Lions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Evans was carted to the locker room after colliding with cornerback Rock Ya-Sin<\/a> and the turf on a deep pass from quarterback Baker Mayfield<\/a>. Evans’ head hit the turf as he and Ya-Sin went tumbling to the ground. Ya-Sin was able to get up immediately and was uninjured.<\/p>\n

Evans laid on the field for several seconds after the play grimacing but motionless while Mayfield stared blankly in disbelief. Multiple teammates — tight end Cade Otton<\/a>, running back Rachaad White<\/a> and left tackle Tristan Wirfs<\/a> — huddled around Evans as he was being attended to by the training staff, with rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka<\/a> kneeling at his side.<\/p>\n

Then longtime defensive captain Lavonte David<\/a> took the field and hovered over Evans while his offensive teammates returned to the huddle, and they were then joined by head coach Todd Bowles.<\/p>\n

Evans needed additional time and assistance before being able to get to his feet, and he left the field with the team’s vice president of sports medicine, Bobby Slater’s arm around his waist for support.<\/p>\n

Evans, who was recently named the fourth all-time greatest player in team history as part of its 50-year celebration, was ruled out almost immediately.
