Stella Banderas<\/a> kept her father Antonio Banderas<\/a> in mind when deciding where to say \u201cI do.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Along with Stella’s mom Melanie Griffith<\/a>, the Spanish actor, 65, was present as the 29-year-old wed her longtime love<\/a>, Alex Gruszynski, in Spain on Saturday, Oct. 18. Stella, who was born in the European country but raised in Los Angeles, chose her wedding destination with both herself and her father in mind, she told Hola!<\/a> magazine.\n<\/p>\n Stella always wanted her wedding to be in Spain, and feels connected to her father\u2019s roots in M\u00e1laga, she told the magazine. The Marbella-born bride did not, however, end up selecting her father\u2019s home city or her own, both of which are located in Spain\u2019s Andalusia region. Instead, she chose the Castilla region for her and Gruszynski\u2019s nuptials, per Hola!\n<\/p>\n Getting married in a country that holds such significance for her family made the bride feel “lucky,” and made her father very proud, according to the magazine.\n<\/p>\n Antonio Banderas, Stella Banderas and Melanie Griffith.<\/p>\n Melanie Griffith Instagram<\/p>\n \u201cI feel so lucky to be getting married in the country where I was born,\u201d Stella told Hola! as her father shared that \u201chaving her get married in Spain fills me with pride.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s very Andalusian, very much from M\u00e1laga, even if she grew up in the U.S.,\u201d the actor told the magazine. \u201cThis is her way of reconnecting with her roots and sharing her homeland with her future husband and his family.\u201d\n<\/p>\n The proud dad also said that \u201cseeing my daughter dressed as a bride will be one of the most beautiful moments of my life.\u201d\n<\/p>\n “I get to be the father of the bride,\u201d he added, \u201cand it\u2019s a role I take on with all the emotion in the world.\u201d\n<\/p>\n The star\u2019s pride for his daughter was visible in photos from the Oct. 18 ceremony, which showed him holding up a wine glass to toast the newlyweds. True love, deep love! Congratulations to the beloveds!!! \u2665\ufe0f\ud83d\udca5\u2665\ufe0f\ud83d\udcab\u2665\ufe0f.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Antonio shared his reaction with PEOPLE the following month. \u201cI feel great! She’s happy, I’m happy,” the star said before adding of Gruszynski, “He’s awesome. I’ve known him since he was a little kid.\u201d<\/p>\n
