are looking to turn the page quickly to the offseason after a devastating Game seven loss in the ALCS to the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a>. It marks yet another season that the Mariners have not made the World Series, <\/a>but the team’s front office must move on and focus on what team-specific moves the team will make this offseason.<\/p>\n

Seattle has two impending free agents in Eugenio Suarez and Josh Naylor. Naylor has expressed he’d like to stay in Seattle, but the two sides must come to an agreement, and Suarez might depart in free agency, because he was expected to be a rental addition anyway when the Mariners traded for him back in July.<\/p>\n

So, who could the Mariners target in free agency this season to help potentially fill some of those voids?<\/p>\n

Mariners encouraged to pursue Red Sox’ Rob Refsnyder<\/p>\n

One of the biggest needs the Seattle Mariners<\/a> could target this offseason is a platoon option to face lefties. As currently constructed, Seattle’s lineup features several left-handed hitters, and that will especially be the case if they lose Eugenio Suarez.<\/p>\n

In a recent Bleacher Report ‘offseason guide’ for the Mariners<\/a>, they are predicted to pursue Boston Red Sox<\/a> platoon option Rob Refsynder.<\/p>\n

Refsynder is set to be a free agent this offseason and could be a quality, low-cost option for Seattle to target.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old Refsynder has made a career almost primarily hitting left-handed pitchers. In 2025, he hit nine home runs in 182 at-bats and posted an OPS+ of 131<\/a>. Albeit in limited-ish playing time, Refsynder has an OPS+ of above 130 over the past two seasons.<\/p>\n

Refsynder also provides defensive versatility. He can play three infield spots, as well as be a quality DH option if there is a southpaw on the mound.<\/p>\n
