On Friday, October 17, 21-year-old Apple joined the band Jade Street, a duo made up of two of her fellow students, onstage at the venue Cannery Hall for their song \u201cSatellite,\u201d which will be released as a single later this month (listen to a clip here<\/a> and see pics from the gig here<\/a>). According to a campus publication<\/a>, Martin was in the audience, and Paltrow commented on the video of Apple singing using the heart-eyes emoji, showing that she has the full support of her parents as she branches into music. The younger Martin has also recently dipped her toe into modeling, landing gigs with Self-Portrait and the Gap. Not a bad gig for a college girl.<\/p>\n Stephane Cardinale – Corbis\/Getty Images<\/p>\n Apple Martin has opened up before about her love of singing, telling Interview<\/a> that she\u2019s involved in an on-campus cabaret group and adding, \u201cI have a very low voice so whenever we\u2019re doing harmonies it\u2019ll be like, Alright, it\u2019s the boys and Apple.\u201d In the same conversation, she reflected on her choice to pursue a career in the public eye\u2026or not. \u201cIt\u2019s interesting because I grew up with that uneven balance of getting out of the airport with my mom and being bombarded with cameras, and then just being a normal kid,\u201d she recalled, adding, \u201cI don\u2019t think we need another celebrity child in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n These days, though, she says, \u201cI just try to do what feels right and block out anything regarding me in the news to the best of my ability. And I\u2019m getting a lot better at being like, Fuck it. I\u2019m not going to be scared.
