On today\u2019s Young and the Restless (Wednesday, October 22, 2025), Daniel and Tessa\u2019s friendship crossed a line with a passionate kiss, forcing Daniel to admit he\u2019s in love with her, and she admits her feelings for him. Meanwhile, Mariah confronts her worst nightmare when Ian Ward\u2019s ghost taunts her and she reveals how far she almost went to banish him.<\/p>\n

Last Episode<\/p>\n

\"Y&R<\/a><\/p>\n

Noah\u2019s Hospital in LA<\/p>\n

Nick stops in at the hospital. Sharon tells him that she just got off the phone with Mariah, who needs her help, but she can\u2019t leave Noah\u2019s side right now!<\/p>\n

Nick tells her to go see Mariah\u2026 Noah won\u2019t know if she\u2019s there or not.<\/p>\n

\"SharonCBS<\/p>\n

Sharon cries and says she\u2019s been on edge. Mariah and Noah are both \u201cbroken,\u201d and there\u2019s nothing she can do to fix them! She calls Mariah\u2019s therapist and they discuss options for treatment. After she hangs up, she heads back into Noah\u2019s room.<\/p>\n

Nick stays in the waiting room and calls his mom, Nikki. He tells her that a detective came by and claimed he was investigating the crash. He tells her that a \u201cfriend\u201d named Sienna called Noah\u2019s phone, and she ended the call quickly. Everything feels off, and Nick has more and more questions about how his son ended up in the hospital.<\/p>\n

Nikki asks for Sienna\u2019s name and number, and she\u2019ll give them to Victor in the morning so he can have his people look into her.<\/p>\n

\"NikkiCBS<\/p>\n

Nick thanks her. He tears up and says he thought he wouldn\u2019t have to sit at one of his kids\u2019 bedsides crying.<\/p>\n

Nikki says suffering is, unfortunately, a part of life.<\/p>\n

A Therapy Clinic in Boston<\/p>\n

A vision of \u201cIan\u201d tells Mariah that she needs to open her eyes and see what\u2019s in front of her.<\/p>\n

\"IanCBS<\/p>\n

Mariah says he\u2019s not here and he\u2019s not real. He\u2019s in hell where he belongs!<\/p>\n

Ian scoffs. She\u2019s hiding behind predictable arguments; he\u2019s here with her.<\/p>\n

Mariah asks why he\u2019s there\u2026 He\u2019s connected to every painful moment she\u2019s had in her life. Victor Newman shot him, and he died.<\/p>\n

\"MariahCBS<\/p>\n

Ian says he\u2019ll always be here for her, and the world is full of miracles. He asks if she\u2019d like to feel his beating heart and asks for her hand.<\/p>\n

Mariah tells him not to touch her. She asks him to leave. Now!<\/p>\n

Ian says Tessa left her, and he\u2019s the only one in this world that she can count on. This isn\u2019t the first time she\u2019s shut herself off from the world. Is she trying to keep the world out, or is she trying to keep others safe from her? He figures his name must have been mentioned in her therapy sessions. He\u2019s the guiding force behind her entire existence! <\/p>\n

\"IanCBS<\/p>\n

Mariah covers her ears and closes her eyes. \u201cYou\u2019re nothing. You\u2019re not even real!\u201d<\/p>\n

Ian covers his eyes and looks at her. \u201cPeek-a-boo!\u201d He leans over and picks up the Queen of Hearts card. It\u2019s not torn in half.<\/p>\n

Mariah says he\u2019s a cheap con.<\/p>\n

\"IanCBS<\/p>\n

Ian says she can\u2019t shut him off like she has shut off everyone else\u2026 Not when he\u2019s a part of her; he\u2019s known her longer than anyone.<\/p>\n

Mariah scoffs. He never knew her.<\/p>\n

Ian says he knew her since she learned to speak. He\u2019s touched that she brought him back.<\/p>\n

\"IanCBS<\/p>\n

Mariah says he stalked her and terrorized her. She can\u2019t get rid of him no matter what she does! She\u2019s done terrible things to try to get him out of her life and she can\u2019t wash him away.<\/p>\n

Ian says she keeps him close to her and it\u2019s because she knows he adores her darkness. He reminds her that she haunted Sharon. She keeps trying to be the \u201cgood girl,\u201d but evil is in her!<\/p>\n

Mariah screams that she will never believe that.<\/p>\n

\"MariahCBS<\/p>\n

Ian laughs. \u201cI think you already do!\u201d She\u2019s fire, rage, and darkness! He says it was good how she shut her wife and child out of her life. That\u2019ll give her a chance to live the life she wants!<\/p>\n

Mariah gestures around the clinic. \u201cIs this the life I want to live?\u201d She asks what she should do with her \u201cdarkness.\u201d How should she live with the worst parts of herself?<\/p>\n

Ian thinks she should let the \u201cboring mortals\u201d see her in all her glory\u2026 What will she do with the fire inside her, and how will she unleash it on the world? Has she already taken action? He wants to know everything.<\/p>\n

\"IanCBS<\/p>\n

Mariah laughs ironically. He doesn\u2019t exist! This is all about him; the monster who came back with his monstrous bride, Jordan. Even though he\u2019s dead, she still can\u2019t get rid of him! She couldn\u2019t drink him away, and ever since he took her from her mother, the sickness inside her has grown.<\/p>\n

She says she ran into someone at a club months ago and he was an echo of Ian\u2026 She wanted to be able to get rid of him for good, so she smiled back at this man and laughed at his jokes. She let him buy her drinks and let him kiss her. He invited her back to his room, and she went because deep down, she knew that she could be rid of Ian by killing this man who stood in for him!<\/p>\n

\"MariahCBS<\/p>\n

Ian asks how killing that man made her feel\u2026 Did she feel his spirit escape his body?<\/p>\n

Mariah says she stopped before she killed him. She realized that killing this man wouldn\u2019t get rid of Ian. She\u2019d only be giving Ian power!<\/p>\n

Ian laughs. \u201cThe devil made me do it!\u201d He knows why she couldn\u2019t kill that poor man\u2026 It\u2019s because she couldn\u2019t kill him, and the darkness he awakened in her lives on!<\/p>\n

\"IanCBS<\/p>\n

Mariah says she\u2019s not a lost cause or a psychopath like him. She didn\u2019t take his life because she has compassion. She\u2019s in therapy because she\u2019s in pain and needs to find a way to move on with her life.<\/p>\n

Ian asks what she\u2019s learned.<\/p>\n

Mariah says she learned that Ian tried to make her like him when he was alive because evil spreads like cancer, but she\u2019ll never be like he was.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Ian grins. \u201cNever say never!\u201d<\/p>\n

Mariah says she didn\u2019t need to take a life to get rid of him. He didn\u2019t break her before, and he won\u2019t break her now. He\u2019s nobody; he\u2019s nothing, and she wants him gone.<\/p>\n

Ian disappears suddenly, and Mariah picks up the untorn Queen of Hearts card. She looks around, wondering where it came from.<\/p>\n

\"MariahCBS<\/p>\n

The Genoa City Athletic Club (GCAC)<\/p>\n

Daniel and Tessa kiss passionately on the stairs. Tessa stops and apologizes. She wasn\u2019t thinking; he\u2019s a good friend, and he\u2019s been patient with her.<\/p>\n

\"TessaCBS<\/p>\n

Daniel understands. She needed a distraction.<\/p>\n

Tessa says kissing him was about nothing but him. She thought about kissing him before, when they were talking or playing guitar together\u2026 This wasn\u2019t out of the blue!<\/p>\n

Daniel says he\u2019s thought about kissing her, too.<\/p>\n

\"DanielCBS<\/p>\n

They sit down in the lobby and Tessa asks if she was \u201cterrible\u201d for kissing him. They joke around a bit and Tessa says he always makes her feel less ridiculous.<\/p>\n

Daniel laughs. She could never be ridiculous! He suggests they go to sleep, wake up tomorrow a bit hung over, and forget this ever happened.<\/p>\n

Tessa wonders if he could forget about what happened.<\/p>\n

\"TessaCBS<\/p>\n

Daniel shrugs. Probably not. He won\u2019t be getting that out of his head anytime soon!<\/p>\n

Tessa asks if he\u2019d like to take a walk.<\/p>\n

Daniel agrees. Fresh air would help clear their heads! He takes her hand and then pauses awkwardly before they head out of the club.<\/p>\n

\"DanielCBS<\/p>\n

Crimson Lights<\/p>\n

Tessa and Daniel get a coffee and sit on the patio. She thanks him for being there for her and thinks they don\u2019t have to be awkward together. She wants him to be open and talk to her\u2026 And not hold back.<\/p>\n

\"TessaCBS<\/p>\n

Daniel thinks that they\u2019d both regret letting him talk.<\/p>\n

Tessa says she\u2019ll talk, then. She has unexplainable feelings for him, including comfort and excitement. She sees his face and hears his voice and feels relieved because she knows that life will be brighter with him than without him. He\u2019s gotten her through so many days. It\u2019s wonderful, but it\u2019s terrible, too. Life is complicated, and he\u2019s the only one she can talk to these days. He radiates reassurance because he\u2019s been through so much, and he makes her laugh, lets her cry, and is truly her best friend.<\/p>\n

A tear rolls down Daniel\u2019s face as he admits that he\u2019s falling in love with her. He quickly catches himself and says he shouldn\u2019t have said anything; he must have drank more than he thought he did. He should keep his mouth shut!<\/p>\n

\"DanielCBS<\/p>\n

Tessa says he doesn\u2019t need to keep his mouth shut. She\u2019s happy they can talk about tough things and not turn away from it. In a different timeline, she can see herself falling in love with him, too! This is her truth. Does it help him, knowing that she could love him, too?<\/p>\n

Daniel says this is the only timeline he has and can focus on.<\/p>\n

Tessa doesn\u2019t know what is going to happen with Mariah. She doesn\u2019t want to lead Daniel on; she wants to fight for her marriage and for her family, but he\u2019s still important to her!<\/p>\n

\"TessaCBS<\/p>\n

Daniel agrees; that\u2019s what she should do. He says they should leave this in another timeline, because he doesn\u2019t want it to ruin their friendship.<\/p>\n

Tessa nods and caresses his cheek. She doesn\u2019t want that either.<\/p>\n

\"TessaCBS<\/p>\n

Noah\u2019s Hospital Room<\/p>\n

Nick rejoins Sharon at Noah\u2019s bedside. Sharon says she was just telling Noah how much she loved his singing when he was little.<\/p>\n

\"SharonCBS<\/p>\n

Nick grins. \u201cWho doesn\u2019t love Old Nickdonald?\u201d Noah thought Nick was a farmer and Donald was his middle name. They laugh as they reminisce.<\/p>\n

Sharon says she\u2019s made a decision about Mariah. She has to stay with Noah in case something happens. She says that after she talked to Mariah\u2019s doctor, she feels that Mariah is in a good place and will get the help she needs.<\/p>\n
