Ernie Clement is having the postseason of a lifetime.<\/p>\n

The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a>‘ super-utility man just keeps on hitting, and the Blue Jays are going to the World Series in part because of his massive contributions.<\/p>\n

In fact, Clement has set a postseason record among active players.<\/p>\n

Nobody currently active in MLB has had more hits through their first 11 postseason games than Clement. He has a whopping 18 in that span.<\/p>\n

The record, via Sportsnet<\/a>, outdoes four active players who had 17 hits in their first 11 postseason games: Fernando Tatis Jr., Steven Kwan, Ketel Marte and Mark Vientos.<\/p>\n

It’s quite the feat for Clement, whom the Blue Jays will hope can keep it up in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Fall Classic starts Friday night, and it’s the Blue Jays’ first appearance since 1993, when they won it.
Clement wasn’t even alive then.<\/p>\n

Clement is a feel-good story, having been cut loose by both the Athletics<\/a> and Guardians before finally latching on in Toronto and proving his worth.<\/p>\n

This season, he’s a nominee for the Gold Glove at the utility position, and he’s been one of the best contact hitters in baseball all season long.<\/p>\n

If winning pedigree matters right about now, Clement delivered a walk-off hit to send Virginia to the College World Series as a freshman, and then the Cavaliers won the national title.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays would certainly take a few more heroics from Clement now, and it sure seems like he’s up for the task.<\/p>\n
