\n\tEXCLUSIVE: We have just got some insight into the financials behind Amazon MGM Studios<\/a>\u2018 blockbuster deal to take creative control of the James Bond<\/a> franchise.<\/p>\n

\n\tEON Productions<\/a>, the company controlled by Michael G. Wilson<\/a> and Barbara Broccoli<\/a>, has filed an earnings report in the UK revealing that Amazon MGM Studios paid $20M for its stake in 007. Amazon MGM Studios declined to comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tHere\u2019s the full note in the EON Productions earnings report: \u201cOn 20 February 2025, the company entered into an agreement for the sale of its interest in the Bond franchise, all associated assets as well as its subsidiary companies, B24 Limited and B25 Limited. The total consideration for the sale amounted to $20 million (USD).\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThis is significantly short of the $1B figure reported when the Bond deal was agreed, but as Deadline noted at the time<\/a>, the structure of the joint venture was unknown and could have included Amazon stock options.<\/p>\n

\n\tB24 Limited and B25 Limited were the special-purpose vehicles through which EON Productions produced Spectre and No Time To Die. Another interesting detail in the EON note is that the transaction was completed on February 20, meaning Amazon MGM Studios\u2019 spy signing went under the radar for more than a month before being announced.<\/p>\n

\n\tEON Productions\u2019 earnings put the company\u2019s revenue at \u00a312.1M ($16.3M) last year, which was \u00a310M down on 2023. It was a long way from the \u00a3235M in sales EON recorded in 2021 when the company released No Time to Die, Daniel Craig\u2019s final turn as the British Secret Service agent. EON\u2019s pre-tax profit stood at \u00a31.5M in 2024, rebounding from a loss of \u00a31.2M the previous year.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe company houses other productions, not least an upcoming reimagination of Dick Van Dyke family classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which is in the works with Amazon MGM Studios. As of last December<\/a>, Matthew Warchus<\/a>\u00a0(Matilda: The Musical) was poised to direct the reboot, while Enda Walsh<\/a>\u00a0(Small Things Like These) was on script duties.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon MGM Studios is pushing ahead with the development of a new Bond. Dune helmer Denis Villeneuve will direct, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman serving as producers.
